At this point, I do not believe we will see a general code released.

I have some ?'s for my fellow dis'ers

I can buy one ap and save about $100.

If I join AAA, how much would I save on a mod during regular season? It would cost me approx $45 to join. Can I book room only AAA through Disney? and do I have the same 5 day cancellation policy?

What about a package through AAA? I have to book through AAA right and have to have it paid 45 days b/f we arrive? Can someone give me samples of what they saved w/AAA package.

Anything else you want to add?

Thanks so much for helping me out.

Michele

I have CSR booked for $141.20/night with tax using my AAA discount. That's a savings of $24.94/night off of the rack rate (about 15% before taxes). If you're staying for any length of time, it will be worth it. I booked thru DU and the final payment is due upon check in and is subject to the same 5-day cancelation policy that applies to other room-only ressies.

It's my understanding that there isn't anything special about the AAA package discounts. They're basically the discounted room with tickets added on. The advantage is that you can tack on the MYW Dining to your stay. The disadvantage is that you've got to pay in full 45 days out and you'll be subject to a more stringent cancelation policy.

I booked a room only directly with Disney and applied a AAA rate. For our May 1 trip at POP, I'm paying $93.66 a night. Not too bad, but better than rack rate :)
Don't forget, AAA gets you discounts at other places too, plus the obvious towing benefits.

This was my dilemma as well....

I was booked at Pop Century at the AAA rate of $84.15 per night per room for 2 rooms for 8 nights.

I changed over to the AP rate of $74 per night per room for 2 rooms....but, it will cost me $186 to upgrade one admission ticket from the MYW pass to the annual pass. That comes out to $11.625 per night per room for the 8 nights.

That pushes my AP rate up to $85.625 per night per room ($74 + $11.625). That's actually more than the AAA rate.

Now....since the totals are so close....I need to weigh the pros and cons of each method. The membership with AAA gives me more discounts for other things throughout the year. The AP would give me a discount on buying the DDE and would tempt me to return to WDW within the year.....

Disney could have made it easier on me by just making the AP rate $69 per night....but, nooooooooo.....lol

If you are not an AP holder already and if you are buying the AP just for the discount without definitely planning another trip to WDW within the year, you need to figure out the difference between purchasing your regular MYW ticket and the annual pass. For me...it was the $186....$420 for the annual pass minus the $234 I already had budgeted to purchase a 10 day MYW expiring hopper ticket (no plus options) from Ticketmania.

You then take that total ($186 for me) and divide it by the number of nights you plan to stay. For us it was $186 divided by 8 nights = $23.25. You add that amount to the AP rate. If it is less than the AAA rate, you go that route. If it's more, you go the AAA route.

In our case....

$74 AP rate x 2 rooms = $148 + $23.25 (AP upgrade) = $171.25 per night

$84.15 AAA rate x 2 rooms = $168.30 + $6.25 ($50 AAA membership divided by 8 days) = $174.55 per night

If you are planning to return to WDW within the year or you already have an AP, then it's a whole different story....the AP would definitely be the way to go.

You can book AAA rate through Disney as a room only reservation. Just ask for the AAA rate. You do not have to be a member at reservation time, but should be a member by the time you check-in as they may or may not ask to see your membership card or some proof of membership.

Thanks for the info, guys.

The way I see it is I can have a lot to think about to save a little money, but is it worth all of my stress?

If I have thought this out right, buying the ap would net me a $100 savings. However, I've already planned on buying tickets through ticketmania. I am not even sure how to go about buying the ap and then having it activated b/f check in, sounds like a lot of work for $100 bucks. Especially when we will arrive around 10pm our 1st night!!!

AAA would net me a $200 - 45 fee = $155.

The Ap would be worth the hassle if I knew I could go back in a year. Would I also get discounts on water park tickets?

Thanks

Michele

There are different APs, one for just the 4 parks, and one that includes Water parks, and I think Disneyquest. It is the premium pass

AP holders get a $4 discount on waterpark admission. PAP holders get admission with their PAP.

Just a warning: AP room discounts are not a guaranteed thing. They were pretty scarce for people who began calling CRO yesterday and are even more rare today. Unless you already have that room booked at the AP rate, don't count on that $100 room discount.

I have an AP and would have liked to have gotten a room discount for our stay in April but there were no rooms at CSR and only a handful at POR/POFQ according to my DU TA. By the time I got back to her at 3pm yesterday, even the POR/POFQ rooms were gone. Depending on your dates, there may or may not be any discounted rooms left. Call CRO and book the room before you buy that AP.

I just called about an hour ago out of curiosity, I already had ressies at POR for May 27-June 4 and ap rate was available so I TOOK IT!!! After looking at DDE with my dining plans, I realized that I would save about $75 with that too. So I am officially an AP holder now, well as soon as I buy it. So my total saving with both is around $205. And maybe I'll make it back b/f the year is up!!! Now my problem is where to activate my voucher at 10pm.

Thanks

Congrats! I gaurentee you will be back. I did the same thing last April to save $$$ and I have been 4 times this year. You get hooked on the AP rates and the FREE (so to speak) tickets that you just keep going!!
