Good day! We (2 adults and a 9 year old) are planning to arrive in Vegas on Friday August 27th at about 9 at night. We will be renting a car and driving down to Anaheim for 3 nights. Should we plan to drive down on Saturday and do the parks Sunday and Monday, or should we avoid the weekend and do Disneyland Monday and Tuesday? This is the week before Labor Day and I'm not sure what to expect crowd-wise. Also, mapquest says it takes 4 hours, anyone have experience doing this drive??

Any suggestions would be very welcome!

First if traffic is moving 4 hours is a good estimate. It will have traffic on Sunday but you can beat most of it if you leave before 10am, probably easy since you have your kid you probably won't be up until the morning.

I would say having another day in Vegas would be nice, you won't see too much in 12 hours there.

But because of annual passholder blockouts there may be more people in the park on Tuesday then on Sunday.

Thanks for your quick response! We will be driving back to Vegas--we are flying out from Vegas on the Friday afternoon. We are just unsure the best way to divide the time.

That being the case. It's really a toss up on how busy DL will be, I'm inclinded to say go there on Sunday because the biggest portion of AP holders is blocked out. But on the other hand it's a weekend how many regular guest would be there versus guests on Tuesday when all AP's can go including the the group that had been blocked all summer until the Monday when you are there.

Probably go to DL Sunday Monday. The drive will be that much easier on Saturday anyway, regardless of what time you do it.

The wrost time to drive LV to SoCal is Sunday with Sunday afternoon and evening the worst. Going on Saturday should be optimal. Low traffic to SoCal and low traffic in SoCal.

Thank you so much! Your input is greatly appreciated! I was born in Anaheim (in a hospital on Katella) but am now far far away in the frigid north!

We are actually leaving this Sat. for DL from Las Vegas!
I understand the drive to be closer to 5 hours. We usually stop in Barstow either to eat or just to stretch our legs. It is about half way. There is not much between Las Vegas and Barstow. Then Barstow to Anaheim there is a little more to "look" at. Good luck!

Just back! 4 hours from Mickey and Friends Garage to the front door (non-stop)!
We took 57 to the 210 to the I15 and it worked well!
