Hi everyone! I'm a fairly new DVC owner. I am planning a trip in Nov and thinking of staying at BLT, as I have never stayed there before. I am bringing my boyfriend who has never been to WDW before and I am really trying to WOW him lol. I'm trying to decide between lake view and theme park view for a one bedroom. Can I please hear your thoughts and if you have stayed in specific rooms that you loved? Thanks!!!

I think it depends on how much and what times you'll be in the room. Theme park is also going to overlook the parking lot. So unless you'll be there in the evening to see the fireworks, I'd say the lakeview is better. We like staying lakeview and have never felt like we were missing out.

I would recommend checking out the BLT lovers and owners thread, they usually show the views and say the room number in there and then you can call member services and request specific rooms. Again agree with what was said before, if you're going to be out late in the parks anyways, don't splurge for the TPV.

We have stayed a few times in a TPV unit and enjoyed it, but not normally on park-centric trips because we couldn’t really fully enjoy it. There are some rooms with “both“ views, but they are primarily booked as lake-view. Note that you will also have at least some view of the parking lot in one of these “hybrid” rooms. But the view of fireworks should be pretty good. These units would be even-numbered. We were once in #7812. It is labeled a lake view, but the fireworks were clearly visible (and so was the lake). It was lovely in the evenings. But we also had a view of the tennis court and utility area (but used “lake-view” points, so we weren’t complaining ;)). I agree with the advice to check out the BLT threads, but asking for a certain room might be risky; if it is already occupied, you don’t know what other room/view you might be assigned. I would suggest focusing on general location like “outer north crescent” or whatever area is most appealing to you. Good luck and enjoy!

We own at BLT and stay there often. I prefer the lake view rooms. TPV is cool, but you get a parking lot view in addition to the fireworks. Plus the fireworks are pretty loud. That may or may not bother you. I've been asleep when they start (after a long day in the parks) and they have woken me up.

If you are an eligible member, try to go to the Top of the World Lounge for fireworks and book a cheaper room in my opinion.

I personally prefer lake view. My husband like theme park.
For me, if I'm going to watch fireworks, I'd rather go over to the viewing deck at the main building where they pipe in the music. I prefer the option to sit in quiet relaxation on the balcony looking over the lake. My husband likes the "busy" feel of the view from the theme park side - you can see people moving about, walking to MK, on the tennis courts, activity in parking lot, etc. So it's really just what's more your vibe.

I have done theme park view twice and will never do it again. The first time I got a room on the 9th floor with a very good view. I had requested higher floor and got it. The second time, liking what I previously had, I made the same higher floor request, but did not get it. Instead, I got the fifth floor. The main so-called "theme park" view from that floor is of a large parking lot and a monorail track. The feeling you get is that you have been ripped-off for spending all those extra points on theme park view. Anything below the seventh floor has the same issue, and even the 7th floor is iffy. Otherwise I have stayed at BLT, now seven other times, reserving lake view and requesting high floor. Request has been met every time and views have been good (I now actually prefer the inner/pool view rooms that have a good view of Bay Lake and the former Discovery Island).

As far as rooms go, the 1BRs are very good. Larger than those at SSR, BWV, BCV, BRV, CCV, and Jambo. The extra pull-out chair in the living room is close in size to a twin bed (larger than any of those pull-out-from-a-cabinet beds in other resorts that have those). It and Kidani are the only resorts where the 1BRs have two bathrooms. The balcony is outside the bedroom but a door from the living room also enters it. The living room has almost floor to ceiling windows that provide excellent views. And, as with all 1BRs, you get a washer/dryer.

Just note that you mention going in November and thus I assume you are going to be using the 7-month reservation window. Be aware that is a high DVC demand time and most rooms at BLT disappear before 7-months out, although one may still have chance for a 1BR, which last longer for reserving than other rooms.

And sometimes you just get lucky… this was my last BLT LV looking left with the lake looking to the right… enjoyed fireworks every night from the balcony

Thank you for all of the replies. I own at Boulder Ridge and I love it there (but the quick service isn't so great for gluten free). VGF is my favorite so I might try there, but I thought that BLT would be awesome for someone who hasn't been to WDW. Plus it will be our first trip together and I like the idea of 2 bathrooms :-)
I am just trying to decide what is most important. Probably wont go gung ho all day at the parks and will be relaxing more so I like Boulder Ridge for that. But I love VGF for their restaurants and convenience to MK which is my favorite park. I'll see what is available when my 7 month day comes. I just want him to love WDW like I do! Thanks!

Touring Plans has nearly every view from each room at the WDW resorts. So you can get an idea of the view for all rooms under each description.

Hi everyone! I just booked BLT for my November trip. I decided on a one bedroom lake view. If I want to request a high floor who do I contact? I know it’s not guaranteed but I’m hoping we can get an awesome view. Thanks!!

You can use the chat feature on the site, or call/email member services. I prefer the chat myself for convenience
