Trying to decide on which stroller to bring

We are going on or first Disney World trip next month. We have a double, front and back stroller and a single stroller. I am trying to decide if I should A) bring the long double, B) purchase another single and buy those clips to connect the two singles side by side or C) buy a new double side by side stroller.

I would appreciate your feedback and likes an dislikes on the different variations you have used.

We are driving there and will be taking the buses to the parks once we arrive.

I have done all types of strollers. My favorite double to take was the combi twin savvy. It is a light stroller and folds up easily and pretty small which was a big plus to getting on the monorails and such. We found the front and back stroller to be big and bulky.

This trip we will be taking a single and then renting a double or two for the older girls and my niece but we also have 17 people going so people pushing isn't a problem

We decided to get a used side-by-side (actually a Combi Twin Savvy, too) off of Craigslist. Our tandem is a Joovy sit-and-stand, so we knew that even though it folds pretty thin, our oldest will want a place to fall asleep and a bench wouldn't do. Anyway though, if you can find one on Craigslist, I think that's your best bet. We looked at the 2nd single + connector things but I heard reviews that they don't always work great, I guess it depends on the type of strollers you have (and they both have to match), and it just wasn't worth it to us.

How old are the kids?

We brought our double Peg Perego tandem the first couple of trips, including the very first one when we drove.

It was nice to have one that both kids could recline and nap in. Yes, it was a bit bulky folding and carrying it on a bus, but that was just a couple of times a day, so it was worth the trade off to have the larger comfy stroller in the parks. Also, we stayed at the Boardwalk Villas, so we could push it to Epcot or onto the boats. You can also push them onto the monorail, so it's just a bus you have to fold it (or if you take a taxi).

We took our front/back double Graco last year when we went. Our kids were 2.5 and 4.5 and we didn't have any problems with it at all. We drove though so we didn't have to worry about lugging it on buses and the few times we took the Monorail it wasn't crowded and had a car to ourselves so we just pushed it right on.

I know a lot of people think those strollers are really big and awkward but I was used to it and thought it was fine.

Now on our trip in a few weeks we are flying and no way would we take that stroller. Even though my DD is 5 now she'll never make it without being able to sit down so we debated on buying another single umbrella (we already have on) and just taking that or buying a side by side umbrella.

We actually decided to get the side by side umbrella. I sold our big Graco double, single, matching pack n play, high chair and all that on Craigslist and just bought the Jeep double umbrella at Toys R Us with a coupon. I think I paid $65 for it.

Well, we got it at the end of the summer and have been testing it out and I will have to say I don't know if it's just because I was so used to the longer one but I have a little trouble with the wideness of it. It will fit through a doorway but it is really tight and I feel like I take up so much room when I'm pushing it. My DH said he actually doesn't like it at all!! But it will be easier in the airport and getting on and off buses then with our monstrous Graco double.

I guess if we were driving again I would definitely have used the same one we did last time. It's the stroller the kids were used to, had tons of storage in the bottom and DH and I both liked it.

listing the ages would help.

We have 3 strollers.. our Graco Quattro-style, our SitnStand and the Combi umbrella one.

If its the little one (DS1.5) then we jsut use the Graco around.. if I have to just take my DD5 somewhere, I would just use the Combi. If we use both, then the SnS..

HOWEVER... if we go to Disney all together, then the Graco/Combi duo is required. There are times that the family must be split up and the ease of 2 strollers, beats carrying the DD around. If she wants to walk, I can fold and strap the Combi to the Graco. Plus, this gives EXTRA storage, as the SnS has horrible storage space. The SnS won't recline fully either.

So if the kids are young enough that you aren't splitting up, the your duo should be fine. If you going to split up or there is a large difference in age (4-5+yo and a <1-2yo) then get 2, or bring one and stroller swap for teh other. or you could get a cheap umbrella one (I see WM has em for like $20).

Thank you for the replies. My boys are three and four. I think we are going to take the double we have. I don't really want to spend money on a new stroller that we wouldn't likely use very often. I was just afraid it would be big and bulky for Disney. But, it is the one my kids are comfortable in and I guess it isn' too bulky for the bus there. I guess if after the first day it seems a hassle we will just drive to the parks the rest of the days.

Renting a double might be an option for you, too. There are 2 offsite companies that rent nice Baby Jogger double strollers for about $80 a week. They're pretty lightweight (for a double stroller) and super easy to collapse and carry. They have great sunshades and nice storage baskets, too. They have a weight limit of 100 lbs. and theyre really easy to push. (I promise I don't work for the company! )

The advantage would be that you woulnd't have to pack it in the car, but you would have it at the resort and at the parks. Of course, you might not want to rent a stroller if you already have one, but if you're concerned the double you have is too heavy, might be worth looking into.

OP - I just wanted to tell you that we LOVED driving to the parks. It was just so nice to come and go when we wanted and not having to worry about lugging the kids, our bag & that huge stroller around. And since we were at a resort we didn't have to pay for parking and weren't far from where our car was parked. We never considered taking the buses for a second because of how convenient it was driving ourselves.

I'm real curious on how it will be this time with us flying and relying on the buses!

I'd go with a double then as they are similar in age so they can go to the same places together.

I hear ya...just a suggestion! I'd rather pay $80 for a nice stroller that's easy to push and fold up for the bus and not have to worry about fitting it in the car. That's me though...
