Trying to decide between Port Orleans French Quarter and Caribbean Beach resort??? any thoughts or tips?

I can't comment on CBR, as I have not stayed there. However, this is what we LOVED about POFQ:

- Small and compact - we had a poolside garden view first floor room. Short walk to lobby (gift shop and incidentals), food court, boat to DTD, and pool.
- Loved that the laundry room was poolside and barside, enjoyed a glass of wine, solo, poolside, while waiting on laundry.
- loved the boat to DTD
- short walk to bus stops
- selection at QS was perfect for us, many items that we enjoy to eat, short walk for coffee and mug refills. And perfect for late night Gumbo 'snack'!
- Pool was so much fun for my 6 year old boy, still talks about the dragon slide and alligators all around.

What we did not like was all the stops at Riverside on the bus, as we POFQ was picked up first. But, I understand that POFQ does not always share with POR.

Caribbean Beach is a larger resort. If you are looking for smaller and more condensed go for French Quarter.

Also factor in which resort's theme appeals to you more.

I vote for French Quarter, loved the compact size. The themeing while not overthetop Disney icon in your face it does have a great feel to it and as someone who has visited the actual French Quarter I thought it had a lot of the same atmosphere without the booze and street smells of the actual thing.:rotfl: So I really liked it. Also that boat to DTD was totally a selling point. I loved riding the boat (great look at the swampy landscaper while easier than the buses). I'm going back for my third trip there. I figured I'd end up a deluxe girl but I am in love with POFQ.

we LOVED Carr Beach! It looks so tropical! The zero entry pool was a fav of mine-I loved sitting in the very shallow water with my book :thumbsup2

We paid the extra for a 'preferred' room, which is close to the main pool and the food. We loved everything there! We were very close to Hollywood Studious-and on the day we went there we went from room to being in park in 9 minutes! We had our own car so no bus review. We loved the look of the beaches and the water.

That is a good thing to know about the poolside laundry!

I think the boat will be a fun option!

I love the actual French Quarter -- its only a short day trip for us, but it will be fun not to have that street smell! There have been a few times we went that it was really bad!!

I love all things tropical!! I hate decisions ..lol

Okay while the benights are not as good as Cafe Du Monde, they do fry them up fresh and hot at the food court at POFQ. You can also boat over to POR (Port Orleans Riverside) and they have a TS resturant Boatwrights which does cajun influenced food.

You sound like me a few days ago, lol. We were debating on which resort...POR or CBR and after asking around here and watching some videos on youtube, we're going with POR. CBR is way too big, they have many internal bus stops, even though I guess POR does too just not as many. The values don't have that...as you know, it's 1 stop and that's it. The pirate themed rooms (which we would want) are way far away from the food court. 1 big plus is that POR has queen size beds, I'm assuming POFQ has the same? It was a tough decision! Good luck deciding!

Haha...we always stay at value resorts but are looking at maybe changing this trip since it is alomost the same price and we too are looking at POR and CBR!

Good luck in deciding OP it is a hard choice!!!

We love CBR. It has beautiful with tropical flowers and colors. There are white, sandy beaches with hammocks to lounge in and enjoy the sights at CBR. The ducks are friendly, and we enjoy feeding them bread on the beach. There are quiet pools in each village and a great zero entry for the main pool. We really like the food court and the gift shop at CBR. The staff has always helpful and kind. The rooms are a big with two double sinks and storage underneath. The rooms still have double beds, no queen size though. Yes, it is a large resort but we like that because it doesn't seem like the resort is so crowded. We also enjoy taking a jog/walk in the mornings and this is the perfect resort for that. If you like, you can rent a small boat, paddle boat, etc. for the lake in the middle of CBR. There are several bus stops inside CBR but it really doesn't bother my family. We like staying in Jamaica or Aruba. They are both close to a bus stop and it is a short walk over the bridge to the food court, gift shop, and main pool. Good luck in your decision. Have a great vacation!

POFQ. It is much smaller and has recently been remodeled. And POFQ has queen sized beds compared to the doubles in CBR. Did I mention POFQ is much smaller?:rotfl2: I stayed at CBR in December, and while it was lovely, it was just way tooooo big for me. I hated all of the internal stops (there are 7 bus stops. 7!) and I disliked feeling so far away from the main building.

I have only stayed at CBR 4 times so I can't comment on POFQ, although I am definitely going to stay there one of these days ;).

You will hear people say CBR is big and it is. However, it wasn't big enough to deter me from staying there 3 more times. I have stayed there with small children and the walk to the main pool/food court was about 8 minutes at a toddler's legs pace. The pirate themed pool is lots of fun for little ones and adults. The food court has many options for dining which our family enjoyed. It is a tropical, beachy feel which we enjoy since we are coming from cold NE weather.

I have heard fantastic things about POFQ. It is smaller and has less bus stops. We never had an issue at CBR for buses as it seems like there were always buses coming or going. I have no idea how POFQ buses are, but I do believe they share with POR.

I would suggest looking at photos at both resorts and decide based on which one suits your interests for June. I think both are great choices....and if you are going for like 2 weeks, then do a split stay with a week at both :).

Good luck choosing.
