Dh and I will be in Japan after a convention in Taiwan next June--might as well visit Japan as well, right? Our flights have been set for some time as I booked on miles as soon as the flights opened. We will be flying from Taipei to Osaka, exploring Kyoto etc, and then taking the Shinkansen to Tokyo.

Tokyo dates are Sunday June 21 (arrival date) to Sunday June 28 (flight home from Narita at 6:10pm). Currently I have planned TDR first (3 park days), so weekdays only, and then moving to more central hotel in Tokyo. Is that the best idea? I assume weekends would be quite crowded at TDR, correct?

Thanks! I'm sure I will have many more questions as the planning continues.

Tuesdays to Thursdays tend to have lower crowds but for a hotel swap that fits your travel schedule, Monday usually isn't too bad crowd-wise.

Are you planning to buy a vacation package?

If you aren't, you might want some flexibility in your schedule because of a high likelihood of rain in June. It may be a good idea to book one hotel and then buy your tickets when you can see the final weather forecast, especially if outdoor shows and parades are a priority for you. Of course, rainy days tend to have lower crowds so rides will generally have shorter wait times.

Thanks to both of you!

I'm planning on purchasing a vacation package, most likely the unlimited 2D/1N, and then fill in the separate hotel nights and tickets. Right now it looks like I'll be doing one hotel night, then the package night, then either 1 or 2 other hotel nights.

We did the unlimited this September on a Thursday & Friday with two nights before and one after. It was amazing! We only had a half day at Disneyland the day we arrived, which I wish could have been a full day, but timing didn’t work with the rest of our trip. The Friday at Disney Sea was not a problem as we had the unlimited package and just rode rides all day. We had already had a full day in the park on Wednesday to fully explore all the lands.
