Trying to decide between CR and WL?

I am not sure whether to go w/WL or CR for our annual WDW trip Feb 09. We will be staying for 5 nights, and our DD's will be 4 and 15 mos. old during our stay. We stayed at the CR this Feb, and loved the remodeled rooms and the convenience of the monorail, as well as the view, even though we had a Bay Lake View and not a MK.

What do you guys think? Would we save money by going w/the WL or not really. I really like the look of the WL from pics that have been posted. But as I said previously, we loved the CR. I just don't want to wish I would've stayed at one or the other.

Why not try the WL and do something different? WL looks very good to me, and there's pictures and reviews everywhere here, so it won't be a complete unknown. If you still like the Contemporary better after you stay at the WL, at least you know from experience which you like better and will have experienced something different.

Hello! I would definitely give the WL a shot if I were you. We just stayed there for the first time in October and I fell in love with it!! I have stayed at 7 other Disney resorts and WL is my favorite!! The decor and themeing are amazing. . .there are no words to describe that lobby!! I think you and your family would love it there!! Just my 2 cents!!

Pardon my ignorance, bit I don't really understand why the lobby of a hotel is a big deal. Does anyone really spend any significant amount of time in a hotel lobby?? I think if I were looking at a hotel at Disney or otherwise, the lobby certainly would not be the selling point. JMO!

I'm a big fan of the CR, but when I saw the lobby and grounds of the WL I thought about staying there. I took into consideration the room sizes and theme park views and everything I love about the CR won out. I've never stayed at the WL so I can't tell you why to stay there, but I have stayed at the CR several times and one time at the Poly and have happily gone back to the CR because I just love it there.

It doesn't hurt to try some place new, but if you love the CR and can afford it I say go for that! LOL

With kids of your ages, I'm guessing you'll be at the Mk more than anywhere else. That being the case, the CR is your best bet. If you can get the Mk view, even better. But if not, it's still awesome to have the option of walking over to / from the MK with tired kids in strollers.

I agree that with the ages of your kids the Contemporary is the better choice. You will have the walkway when going to the Magic Kingdom and when going back to the Contemporary, you can once again take the walkway or the Resort Monorail which is a very quick 30 second ride since the Contemporary is the next stop after leaving the Magic Kingdom.

Do you care more about theme, or a walkway to the Magic Kingdom? I loved the boat ride from WL to MK. It's part of the fun. I do enough walking at the Magic Kingdom.

I think we will probably stick w/the CR and try the WL when the kids are a bit older. We do spend a good amount of time in the room, and that was just w/our 3 yr old so I bet we will even be there longer for naps and earlier at night with a 1 yr old as well. The ride back from the MK is great, and yes that is where we spend most of our time because our DD has the most fun there (however I love Epcot WS!).

We are going to upgrade to a MK view next year since we will be back at night earlier. We also like the Outer Rim lounge that me and DH grab a drink at and bring it up to the room.

I didn't realize the rooms were larger at the CR. That kind of sells it for me. For those of you that haven't stayed there, the rooms are fabulous. They look nothing like they did from before they were remodeled (at least from the pics I saw.

Another thing that I was thinking about is we do park hop quite often between MK and Epcot (because of their dining choices), and the monorail access is nice.

Thanks everyone for their input though! The WL is one we will saty at in a few years because the kids would like the boat ride, it will just be easier when they are not so young.

Great choice! CR is my favorite resort on property, hands down. Granted, I do enjoy reading the newspaper in the lobby at WL, but having a drink at Outer Rim or on the catwalk outside California Grill are my favorites. Its classic old school Disney!

Have your ever stayed at the WL? The lobby and grounds are amazing.

Based on what you said I think you made the right choice to stick with the Contemporary.
