Trying to choose a place to stay.

Hi I am with the majority here. We have stayed at AKL pool view and at POR. We love both resorts and would continue to alternate these two or do split stays like in the past. I have never stayed at a value. We only do Mods or AkL.

When we went last year I booked a room that I knew we could afford and be happy with. I then just kept checking back every couple days to see if the hotel and room I wanted was on discount. Eventually I ended up with exact room I wanted for a price a was comfortable with. It took a lot of time but I was able to go from a mod to deluxe for not much more.

We travel often with groups and the first thing we learned is let everyone stay where they want, it's everyone's vacation. I would hate to force someone my way and I don't want to give up what I enjoy. It's so easy to meet at the parks without the pressure of meeting at the bus.

If you will be happy at ASMo that is fine, but if you aren't, no reason you can't stay elsewhere.

I agree. We tend to all stay in the resort we all can afford, but I would not worry if we had another family choose a different one. I think that if you can compromise on this you can compromise on the other decisions that will occur throught your trip.

I have never considered POFQ as an option. I may just take a peek at it.

My absolute favorite moderate!!!

This statement does NOT help me. We are booked at POFQ. I am really excited about it. And then.....I priced AKL and for an additional $249 we could stay there. I don't know what to do. :confused3 I would love to sit on the balcony in the morning and just enjoy the quiet while waiting for my husband to get up. We are doing a short 3 full day trip. 2 park days and 1 pool/Disney Springs day. I think the AKL pool is amazing and would love to spend the day there. But then I hear the grounds at FQ are so relaxing that it would be nice to stay there as well.

LOL!!! There is the problem...decisions decisions! LOL! I am going to give you my two cents, even though you did nto ask. I have stayed at both POFQ and AKL< Savannah view. I think the money spent on AKL will be lost for you on such a short trip. If you had more resort time built into your stay I would suggest AKL, but 3 days, packed with DS and the parks? You will be lucky to see any of POFQ! LOL!

A few years ago my DDIL and I met a friend for a short Holiday trip. WE only had 5 days and wanted to focus on enjoying Holiday decorations and activities. We chose CSR because that resort was the best price at the time I booked. I am so glad we did not spend more on the resort. I love the Deluxe states, but I do nto want to be torn between enjoying the parks and enjoying the resort. Save AKL for the trip that allows you to plan resort time.

We have stayed at POR before and loved it.... we want to try POFQ but decided on Wilderness Lodge this time... its a deluxe... but on the lower cost end ... but still gets boat service to MK. We plan on trying out different resorts each visit :)

I agree with a lot of pps. Any room at AKL would be fine. The resort is just an amazing place--all the beautiful woodwork in the lobby and restaurants and lots of animal viewing areas with staff there to answer any of your questions. I also loved POR--another great place. The room was great and the wooded Bayou was really quiet and a wonderful place to have a peaceful walk in the morning or evening. I'm going to be staying at CSR and CBR both in September and POFQ in December--all 4 mods in one year! Can't wait. I've stayed at CSR so I know I'm going to like that -- hope the CBR and POFQ are just as good. Good luck planning this next trip--make it count since you don't think you'll be back for a while. Since you probably won't be back for a number of years, I would go with those resorts that aren't under construction--would hate to have your rare visit go badly. Good luck planning!

I agree with Nancyg56, stay at akl when you will have time to enjoy the resort. We've stayed at akl and po, would stay either again... I say save the $$$

Sorry??? I think....

If I'm making you doubt then please don't ask me about my POFQ thoughts and what I would do :rolleyes1

Since you have an off day and pool time, I would for sure invest in a stay at AKL. I mean where else in this country can you stay where there are exotic animals roaming just outside? Great food, great pool, beautiful resort .... love it there. Explore all the animal watching locations, the art throughout the resort, great dining!!, often music and entertainment ...

Now POFQ ... has always bothered me that they charge moderate prices yet do not provide a full range of amenities. I don't want to travel to POR for table service or recreation. Now even if I don't use them, I want them there if I'm being charged the same. Now if there were something special there that would be one thing but there's not. So I would always book POR now.

I LOVE NOLA and the French Quarter so the resort visually appealed to me. The rooms are nice and I liked that they used so many different fabrics. But the resort itself was so dead that it felt strange. I'm not happy with the lack of decor in the new food court. It's part of the fun of the resort, and maybe that is because I am aware of where it was made and what it all meant.

My complaints for the pool areas; hot tub is not much bigger than mine at home and down a walkway away from pool and bar. Pool area is highly geared to very young children (mine at 9 has zero interest) and therefore there are lots of kids there. The pool decks were expanses of concrete with virtually no shade. Nothing was special about the theme at the pool, same as any club pool.

Compared to AKL which the pool deck is curvy with hidden spots, lush landscape, shaded areas, two hidden away hot tubs, bridges, animals, right next to food court, bar, nice bathrooms. It's truly a beautiful and creative watering hole for humans.

i'm guessing that @Haygar2 switched to AKL based on the signature? :)
You guessed correctly.:thumbsup2 Really, once thinking about it, it was a complete no brainer. Hoping for Kudu Trail (or maybe even some extra pixie dust and being upgraded to Savannah view) but I will be happy with whatever. I can't wait to wake up and sit on the balcony. I get up much earlier than my husband. So what a great way to wait for him to get up.
