My DW and I have been DVC members for about a little over a month. We bought at AKV and it seems everytime my wife or I get on with the DVC operator we are told there are the rooms or reservations we want and then when go go to book them they don't have them.

I was booking a couple of rooms at VB and asked if they had any 1 bdrms available? She said yes sir I said to book them she put me on hold and then came back and told me she needed to put me through to a manager and then stuck me on hold again. About 5 min later someone picked up and I had to explain what I was on the line for. Obviously I was not talking to a manager I was put back in the Q and when I asked for the one bedroom I was told there was no availability.

I had to settle for 2 garden inn rooms. I thought nothing of that until it happened again. even then I thought maybe I was just unlucky. Until yeterday when my wife was calling to make advanced reservations for dinner. She was told there was seating available and in the next sentance was asked if there was another place she wanted to eat because there were no reservations available.

Now either I am loosing my mind or there is something I am not doing or saying correctly. I may not have the secret hand shake down yet. why do I keep missing by seconds?

sorry to be negitive but I am frustrated. Is this the way it will be forever or is there a way of doing it different?:confused3

Sorry to hear about your frustrations. I can only speak for myself but I have not had any trouble making or changing reservations to this point. Hopefully it was just a bad case of timing and who you spoke with. I know rooms and or reservations can go very quickly so maybe the person at MS just took to long, lost the reservation and didnt want to tell you:confused3.

I would say that 99% of the time things run rather smooth.

Sorry to hear about the problems you've encountered. I have been a DVC member for 10 years and have never had a ressie available one minute and gone the next. Usually, I know exactly what I want and book it as quickly as possible, dining ressies included.

What month were you trying to book VB? I know that high-peak times could turn out this way, however, we never travel during these busy times.

The only suggestion I have is to have a few back-up plans with the point numbers worked out in case your first choice is unavailable, this way you won't waste time thinking about alternatives.

I knew exactly what days I wanted and conveyed them quickly. She told me there were 1 bdrms both days. I guess she was new or something?

We are going down June 1st and leaving on the 3rd I got two garden inn rooms. I am on a waiting list for studios have been for about 3 weeks now .
I have had it happen three times. Just lucky I guess:thumbsup2

Member Services can pull the room while the reservation is being booked. I have had them do this before the room was booked while the call was being completed. I know the more experienced Rep's work faster that the new ones. I booked a 2 bedroom standard view BWV, at the 7 month window once, The rep said," let me pull this before it gets gone." I have learned to talk real fast. I lost 2 nights last June for AKV concierge, that were available when we started the call. I just had them come through on the waitlist. The next day, I talked real fast... this was when day by day reservations were still being done.

I have had lost reservations, so I feel your pain!:grouphug:

However, with this reservation, you may just find yourself happier with the GVIR than in a studio. We've stayed in a studio and in a GVIR, and OVIR. Sure the OVIR are the best, but next we liked the GVIR for the location, it was in the main building and very convenient, and even for the view. The view was much better than from our studio villa. GVIR's are less points. The "bad" thing, is there are 2 Q beds rather than a sofa a a Q bed, but for us, we decided that if we ever had to choose between the two, we would take the GVIR.

Best wishes.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering about the rooms. What is the view from the garden view room?

The original plan was to get a one bedroom only because I have some family in Vero Beach and was thinking we could visit seeing it was big enough to have a few people over. we wouldn't have to be the ones going from house to house. I guess we could just meet at the resort and hang out at the beach or pool.

I was just a little let down when I was told yup then in the same breath told nope. oh well. Maybe my wait list will come through.
Thanks for the info.

I see from your siggie you are AKV owners. As you may know by now, it can be difficult to book at other resorts at the 7 month window at times. If you are looking to book Vero for this summer, then this would be quite late to do so with successful results. If you are flexible with dates and villa type (as it seems you were in this case) then you should be able to find something for that time period.

The old adage buy where you want to stay becomes more and more important as time goes on. You will find the 11 month advantage at AKV very important to you in planning your trips.

Welcome Home! :)

I appreciate your comments and realize I only have a 7 month window with my AKV ownership. But my gripe is not with the availability but with the CM telling me there are rooms available and then I say book and they say sorry there are no rooms.

That was my original post. I keep being told sure there are ressies and then in the same breath told nope , no ressies.

It really won't matter where I bought. There can be no rooms and that is fine with me. But don't tell me there is a room and then tell me sorry no there is not within seconds.

Unfortunately, this can certainly happen and has happened to many members. There are folks who even lost their current villa reservation when trying to switch it to another resort. It can literally disappear in a second!

If you check and then call back, it is certainly a guarantee that availability will have changed by then. It is a rapidly changing snapshot in time for sure!
