Trying to avoid Christmas Parade taping

Just have to vent a little.... it's very frustrating trying to plan everything when they won't announce the parade taping days..... I'm trying to avoid them at all cost but we'll be there 12/4 to 12/9 which is basically the time frame they do it... At first I planned to avoid MK all weekend, then I found out they may schedule it during the week so I've went and changed it so we're doing MK that Sunday and Monday..... I think this one bother's me more than 180 dining reservations, and 60 FP+ reservations..... even more than the yearly price increases! LOL

I also thought I read on here that they had announced a specific date. I'm sure it's frustrating, but that's probably the easiest thing to avoid when you compare it to 180 day ADRs and FP+, just stay off of Main Street. I found the evening parties made picking my MK days more difficult, especially if they have MVMCP 3 or 4 nights per week and you want to see Wishes without paying $75 apiece for some cookies.

We have been that week several times. Usually, they tape the stage performances on Friday and the parade on Saturday. If it rains, then the taping can go into Sunday (we were there one year when that happened- we call that day Jonas Brothers Sunday- it was crazy). If I remember right, last year, they moved it from the typical Friday and Saturday the week after Thanksgiving, to the Monday and Tuesday after that, which messed up everyone's schedule that had planned around it. The rumor was that it was moved due to one of the performers or host's schedules and their inability to get there over the weekend.

Seems like they did not announce they had moved it until November last year, which if we had been going in that time period last year would have really made me unhappy. We always plan our schedule to avoid MK those 2 days. It was bad enough if the schedule changed for ADRs, but now with FP+, I would be extremely unhappy if they announced it less than 60 days before the event. I totally understand your frustration.

The dates that they gave parade participants were 12/3-12/6 (I believe the 3rd is practice and the 6th rain date). Hope that helps!

We were there last year. Thought the taping was Saturday/Sunday so we planned MK for Tuesday. I was worried when we saw the signs that they were still taping as we were going in but it we never noticed any problems. Walking down Main Street wasn't blocked as we entered. We stayed away from Main Street until we left around 5pm.

Hi OP. I was there for two days of taping last December. It wasn't bad at all. The first day they were taping on Main Street but they had walkways to get around it. We just spent time in the other lands. The 2nd day they were taping on the stage in front of the castle. Again, it was very easy to avoid it. We walked up to the rear of the crowd a couple of times and watch for about 10 minutes each time. It was actually pretty interesting. The rest of the park was operating normally.

Personally, I wouldn't alter my schedule to avoid MK on parade taping days.

Thanks for tips guys, I'll try not worry to much. There's already enough to worry about! LOL

They did change the date of the taping very late last year. Funny enough, we wanted to see the taping! I have 11 and 9 year old daughters who love all the Disney stars.
