Anyone have any idea what rotation would only put us in Carioca's once (hopefully the 2nd night of the cruise)? Not a fan favorite of the menu. Ate in there in November 2013 and tried a couple different apps and desserts, all of which were not really good to us. I had the Jose Carioca's skewered sausage, lamb, beef, and jumbo shrimp which was okay but noone else in my family found anything they liked in the entrees and ended up getting something basic off the lighter fare options. I'm thinking this could be a Cabana's table service kind of night for all of us. I rather enjoyed a night in Cabana's by myself one night on our last cruise so I know this is a great option for my family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much

Even is your roation has you in Carioca's twice, you will have the Carioca's menu only once. The other (repeat) night will have whatever special event menu is being served ship wide - i.e. If you are assigned Carioca's on Pirate Night you will have the Pirate Menu that is being served in all the restaurants that night. I'm not sure what the other special menu night is on the 5 night but hopefully someone who has sailed it can fill us in.

We were on a 5-night Magic Bahamian this past May and we dined at Carioca's only once. Our rotation was LACLA. It had the regular Carioca's menu so you may want to request this rotation then go to Cabana's that night. Hope this helps!

Thanks Chunkymonkey...can't get any more specific than that! I'm still trying to find my KTTW card to see what my rotation was back in '13. That sounds like the one we had.

Call Disney Cruise Line and ask what the rotation on the 5 night are. Then you can request the one you want. Not guaranteed but they will try and honor bla bla bla
We are on the 4 night and the rotations are
LAAC
ACCL
CLLA

This. It won't matter.

If you also don't like that atmosphere of Carioca's, then still request. I requested CLLA for Thanksgiving because I wanted to be in Lumiere's for Thanksgiving, and the first night we are usually more casual, and Carioca's is my least favorite decor.

If it's not atmosphere then order something else. You don't HAVE to order from their menu. I have heard of people ordering from other MDR's cause they like the food they serve. If you liked Luminere's order from that menu the night you are in Carioca's. Let your head server know the first night that you don't like that menu and see what options you can get.
I know I was ill on my last cruise (sea sick a bit) in Feb on the Wonder. My server told me he would get me whatever I wanted regardless of the menu being offered. This means they will accommodate you as much as they can.

Of course, that only works on the 3 nights that the rotational menus are served. On the nights that the same menu is served in all the MDRs, you only have those choices.

On our 5-night in May, we avoided the Dining Rooms entirely. First and last nights at Palo, and the middle three in Cabana's We stopped dining in Disney's main dining rooms years ago. On the whole, we found all of their menus uninspired and flavorless

Interesting, as the menu in Cabanas is pulled from the menus in the other MDRs.

From the choices of basic protein source that's partially true - Cabana's doesn't do "theme night" menus, and they have 4-5 entrees on the menu that are available every night. Dinner in Cabana's is cooked fresh and prepared to order, while dinner in the MDR is cooked at noon and kept hot in a steam tray. The best way to ruin a decent recipe is to make 1,000 portions in an assembly line.;)
