Trying to add day to current reservation

Is there any secret to getting an extra day added to our room? Should I continue to call each day to check or am I better off looking online? Customer service on the phone seemed to just look at what I can view online at Disney.com. I am willing to continue checking multiple times a day for availability for the next month. All we want is an extra day to have a "rest" day in the middle of our trip (we have a 3yo and 1yo).

Reservations at Allstar Movies Sept 21-26
Booked through disney with their "Sun and Fun" discount package. Is this package going to interfere with me trying to extend my stay?

Much thanks for any advice!

What package components do you have (tickets and dining) and which room category? How much are you paying for your package? I just checked and there is nothing available on either side of your reservation, not even as a separate one night reservation. If you are willing to switch resorts, you may have better luck (just plugged in Pop at the "Festive Family Fun" rate and there is availability to expand your dates). If you can give us some more details - package components and price, we might be able to help you find another option.

Thanks for the reply:
We have the standard room and base ticket (non-hopper) package (Sun and Fun discount gave 20% off budget resort) = $1811.03

Let me ask you this. I see rooms available for Sept 26th and 27th (2 days extended on my current reservation) on priceline. While pricier at 250ish a night at another resort, can I book here, and then apply the 2nd room reservation to my mydisneyexperience account without deleting my current reservation? Would I be able to view everything in one place on the app without logging into a new account? Am I going to mess up stuff by trying to combine a direct Disney reservation with a 3rd party reservation? Thank you so much

You will basically have two separate resort reservations so it doesn't matter if you make one through Disney and one through an outside vendor, like a TA or Priceline. All you have to do is to get the reservation number from Priceline and link it to your MDE account. People do it all the time and Disney provides the ability to link these reservations and ticket bought from another vendor. :) You won't have any trouble seeing both reservations in your MDE app.

Perfect. Thank you so much. What I'll do is reserve the Caribbean Beach for those 2 days via priceline, then cancel if availability shows for Allstar Movies eventually!

I used to work at the Disney Reservations Center. What you see online is exactly the same availability that Reservation Sales Agents see when you call.

The advice you were given about booking elsewhere is solid. Due to the way that Disney sells their rooms, some third party online travel agencies (OTAs) have their own separate blocks of rooms. So, it's possible that Disney will show a resort as sold out when an OTA might have available rooms.

Wood Nymph is correct in stating that the Cast Members at the Resorts don't care where your reservations are booked. As long as you book the same room type, you should be able to stay in the same room even though you have two separate reservations.

Great advice. Thank you. Very nice to know that I dont have to spend 30 min on the phone just to check to see about availability

I just filled in my desired extra days through Priceline staying at Caribbean Beach. Going to link that reservation with mydisneyexperience to start looking for fastpasses today, but will continue to look to see if something opens up at Allstar Movies.

Thanks for everyone's help!!

This might be too vague or not completely on point to be useful, but that never stopped me before...

This week I called to add days to a POFQ stay in October. There were no days prior to my stay available on the Disney site (I was checking daily for about 10 days) so I called to check what the Disney rep saw. Cecelia stated she saw the same as me. So we started the process of booking 2 nights at POR for a switch after two days. When we got to the part of extending my tickets and she told me I couldn't extend before my current start date because of the package I had. (Honestly, I didn't know what package she was talking about.) She told me I could wait until I was there and then go to a customer center and see if they'd extend my tickets that way (instead of sucking up the cost of a 2-day pass on top of my 5-day pass). I wasn't loving the idea of using some of my vacation time to bargain with Disney, so I said no thanks and asked if there was a plan B, and while I was convincing myself to just walk away from the added days, Cecelia asked if I could hold for a while so she could "find some pixie dust". After a series of holds, she somehow got me the 2 extra days at POFQ (so now I don't have to switch) and extended my park tickets for the 7-day price instead of the 5-day, 2-day price, and now I didn't have to haggle with the mouse during my vacation.

So, you never know.. if you call again, maybe you'll get Cecelia or someone like her. Initially, she said she couldn't help, but my asking if there was another option kicked her into savior mode.

Perfect. Thank you so much. What I'll do is reserve the Caribbean Beach for those 2 days via priceline, then cancel if availability shows for Allstar Movies eventually!
