It is so hard not to get excited about a possible trip to Disney!!!
So here is deal...
I am a special ed teacher
who works with emotionally and behaviorially challenged middle school students. I have a class of 8 this year with 8 different academic levels (from 2nd grade level to 8th grade) and a whole slew of behavioral issues. This means I have to make up 8 different curriculums for reading, math, and language arts and try to make science and social studies work for all the students in addition to dealing with the behaviors. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my job, but cherish weekends away!
So, even though the school year is only in its second week, I have been thinking of doing a long weekend away in the near future. In addition to loving Disney, I also love hockey (Detroit Red Wings are my team, despite being from Boston) and I love attending games in new cities. So, my first thought was go go to Minnesota for a game, but airfare, car rentals, hotel and food were going to set me back way more than I was prepared to spend for a game weekend. Over the summer I had been thinking about going to WDW because I have an 18 month old nephew whom I adore more than anything and I would love to bring him, esp at Halloween time, because I have never seen the parks decorated at that time of year. BUT, my SIL said she doesn't want my nephew going until he is 3 and can remember it. So I kind of put the thought out of my head...until...
I was facebooking with my cousin (also a disney fanatic) and she was saying she needed a disney fix in the worst way. I didn't really think much about it, as money is tight for them (medical bills, kid in college, need new roof), but I did tell her that I have a pin number for 25% off rooms this fall, so I would get the room if she could get herself and her 16 year old daughter (who I took to DLR for her sweet 16 birthday gift last year) down and we could have a much needed girls weekend. I didn't hear anything from them for a few days.
Well, yesterday I got a text from the princess (daughter) who said she and mom were trying to convince dad about letting them go down with me for a long weekend as princess's birthday gift (she and I have birthdays 1 day apart in October). So, needless to say I was very excited about that. Princess said she was going to work on him so much...I had to explain to her that there is a fine line between annoying and convincing
So, at this point I am just waiting to hear if we have the green light to go. I have already been checking out what is available the different weekends in October and IF it happens it looks like we will either stay at POFQ (where I REALLY REALLY want to stay) or Pop.
Stay tuned!!!
