I wanted to take my daughter on a quick get away in November since she has two days off school. Found cheap tickets, called member service and there is nothing available anywhere!!!! I am so bummed. There was a couple of nights but nothing consecutive anywhere.

We even ventured into December and of course same thing again....I have annual passes that expire next March (we have a family trip then) but really wanted to squeeze one more trip in.....

We are in the same boat. I am taking my mom and sister to the Food and Wine toward the end of October. We are only staying for 3 nights and have 2 have to change rooms. But we took it and waitlisted hoping we don't have to move.

Good luck. I hope it works out for you so you can have a nice weekend away with your daughter.

DVC tries to run at 100% capacity. DVC is not really for last minute planning. You might just want to try CRO.

Wth food and wine, followed by the Christmas decoration it is one high occupancy times of year.

We booked "last minute" (as in 5 months out or so) for Nov 3-6 and we will be staying at the Swan!

There were no Epcot studios or 1 BRs available, and we were limited to Epcot for this trip, so we took a deal through Expedia. And it's not even a great deal.

I've been in that boat. I book room only at pop century, get on a waitlist and call. Twice i got akl studios that way.

We've been disappointed in the past too. I realize it's not WDW, but have you considered Vero Beach? We were able to get a 1BR there for early December with no problem.

This is a naive question I guess. Once you get on the waitlist, what is the reason behind calling? I've seen that comment a lot on the boards. Is it 'just in case' the waitlist is not working??:confused3

I believe that wait list requests expire 7 days before your intended arrival date. During those last 7 days you need to call to see if anything has opened up.

The reason for calling often is because the waitlist appears to be batch run at the end of the day each day. So if you call during the day, you might be able to snag a cancelled room from that day before it hits the wait list and is gone.

It's a very poorly administered way to handle things. I'm batting 0 for 6 on the waitlist since I don't call back to check on it.

Also, you can only have 2 active waitlists. So for example, if I was willing to take any studio on property at WDW, I would have to choose only 2 resorts (different views count as different waitlists) to waitlist. Then I would call every day to see if something other than what I was waitlisted for had opened up.

Thanks guys, those are 3 great reasons to call, that i never would have thought of! DISboarders are the BEST!

OP, sorry, i did not mean to hijack your thread...

I have never called and we have had all but one night of one wait list filled (and we have wait listed probably 4-5 times in the last 3 years).

If that is how it works then they really should update the system. They are taxing their staff by having them field these calls, and with the limit on the number of waitlists it really should go to the next person in line. Some people don't have time to constantly call Member Services.

I realize it is a busy time of year. I was just venting. I thought for sure, ssr would have something.....

We're 3 for 3 on the waitlist. Now, I think key is 2 of the 3 were only one night and the other was 2.

But, all were October and two were for BWV and the other a BLT SV 1BR. It can be done.

Venting is cool. That's what we're here for! :)

Often "DVC" and "last minute trip" don't go together very well. Hope you are able to work something out.

If you were planning your stay around Veteran's Day, there are LOTS of school closings then & people here books MONTHS in advance. You were lucky to find flights, though.

I wouldn't rule out accepting a ressie that has you switching resorts...First, your waitlist COULD open.
But if not, if you pack lightly, staying at different resorts gives you a variety of experiences in one vacation. Different pools, different snack bars, etc..We love doing that!

Don't give up! Waitlists often clear especially after the 30-day 'CANCEL OR ELSE' limits....

Hope it works out for you! :wizard:

The 30 day is in 10 days, and I can't book airfare and not have a place to stay.....oh well, maybe another time....

I would keep trying 7 days out in case someone cancels. Of course you will need a back up plan incase nothing comes through.
