Trundle Beds at POR

I've read that these beds are only large enough for a child, is that true? We have two 17 year olds and one was planning to sleep on this. We might have to rethink this if this is the case!

If your 17 year olds are small, it might work. I found this description on allearsnet.com:

The Trundle Bed is intended to accommodate children under 9; or persons under 5 feet tall. They are narrower than a conventional bed.

The beds are roughly 3 feet wide and 6 feet long. My 7 year old loved it.

I believe your 17 year old will not fit comfortably on the trundle. My son was 8 years old when we stayed at the POR and he was just right.

My ten year old hated it and ended up sleeping on the floor. She said it was very uncomfortable.

Definitely NOT big enough for a 17 year old!! Sorry ! My family of 5 stayed there last year and I had to pay my 9 year old $20 to sleep on it because his younger sibs wouldn't!

They are small. We used a twin size air mattress and it worked great! We propped it up against the wall during the day But you will need to bring your own sheets if you decide to do this.

We stayed at POR in 2002...it was me, DD2, my parents, and my 24 year old brother. My brother chose to sleep on the trundle bed all but one night of our stay (I got it that night and it was just too low to the ground for me LOL).

He had no problems with it and preferred it to the regular bed. And he is well over 6 feet! So you never know...it may work for your son. Have a great trip!!

Just back from POR, the bed is about a foot off the ground that is it. It was good for my 8 y/o.

ok.. it wasnt horrible.. I am 5'7 and pooh sized .. I slept good till about 4am and my 3yo woke up and wouldnt stop crying... dont know what got into her.. also the doorway for connections rooms doesnt block out all noise... had my neighbor open their door and knock on mine while she was crying... .Sorry neighbor...

Thanks for the info! I don't think I"m going to worry about the 17 year sleeping on it. If it is to bad we will do something. Sorry about your little one, hope you get a better nights sleep tonight!
