Trump coming to Grand Floridian 12/7?

We are actually leaving that day for an 1150 AM flight home. I guess leaving for MCO at 830 AM.

anybody have a feel for whether his presence could disrupt plane schedules and traffic to MCO?

Yes, to both. But it does depend on what time Air Force One is arriving. They do control the flight patterns around the airport a little more carefully,. It’s possible there could be some road closures, but unlikely I would think they’ll just take 417 down to WDW and they can run a police convoy with that.

I would guess that the fundraiser dinner will be an evening event, so I would be surprised if Air Force One lands at MCO at 11:30 in the morning.

I'm no Trump fan but I'll leave it at that. The only thing I would like to say is what the heck is it gonna look like for the people staying at the Grand that day?? I would assume the prez being there will disrupt quite a bit.

I would be very surprised if any part of the Grand Floridian is used except for the convention center.

We're going to be there the 5th - 8th, not at the Grand though. Will the parks be affected by this?

if it’s similar to other events like this, I anticipate Air Force One will land at the airport, there will be a police escort and convoy to the GF, after the event there will be a police escort back to the airport, and Air Force One will take off.

There may be some increased security measures right around the hotel, and some short traffic stoppages on property. I don’t think anything else will be affected.

Ok, thanks. Maybe we'll stay away from MK that day just to be sure. I'm guessing the other parks will be far enough away lol.

To a certain degree, sure... but, generally speaking, the President's travel plans and movements are planned months in advance. If there is a temporary disruption, it will be because he is moving from point A to Point B- not because he's hanging out in the lobby of the Grand Floridian.

I highly doubt that he will be riding Peter Pan's Flight or grabbing drinks in Epcot, so there really shouldn't be a need to make major adjustments to existing plans.

Haha yeah I just meant disruptions at the Grand. But who wouldn’t want to see Trump riding the Magic Carpets??

I stayed at a hotel where the VP was coming to visit. I checked in the day before. Secret Service already had people searching every vehicle coming in (I had to unload and open all bags and dogs sniffed the car) and everything coming into the hotel was x-rayed and hand searched a second time. You could exit any door you wanted, but could only enter through the door with the x-ray and search. It was like that until he was well away from the premises at the end of the visit. There was also restricted access to the portion of the building where he would be. So it could be disruptive to people going to GF, but not too bad if you are going elsewhere on property. I would not be surprised if they reduced transportation options to GF to make searching easier, such as possibly canceling boat service.

He should do a surprise appearance at the Hall of Presidents, sort of like Johnny Depp did at Pirates :)
Would be an absolute disaster security-wise. Johnny Depp does not nearly require the same level of security as the POTUS. Cute idea, just wouldn't work in a practical sense.

Anyone think he’ll step foot in a theme park?

I think it’s terribly exciting as no matter what you think of believe the actual president coming to Disney is just exciting!

I think there is .01% chance he will step into the parks as it is more of a "business trip" rather than getaway. I think the only real effects of this trip will be felt by those travelling from MCO to WDW (vice versa), or if they do decide to limit the monorail as the GF is on the line. But I'm starting to think the latter may not even be necessary. I can't see him staying any longer than necessary on property
