I've read some posts that suggest you give yourself an hour to get from POP to MK. Is this true? B/C when I went to the laughingplace transportation whiz it says 22 min. give or take 10 min. I'd like to hear from those of you who have stayed at the POP and used the buses. We are going DEC. 14-20!!! Can't wait!!!

THANKS!

Although I have not stayed at the POP, I can guarantee you that the bus ride is not one hour. The 22 minutes is likely correct but you have to add time in case you just missed a bus. During busy times Disney runs buses often. During the middle of the day you may have to wait 15-20 minutes.
It doesn't take an hour to go anywhere within WDW on Disney transportation unless you are trying to go to another resort. Since there is no direct resort to resort transportation it does take time. I always suggest people use the theme park nearest the resort they want to visit. This way you have time in the park and then can go to visit or eat at the resort.

Absolutely right!! The only time it took me close to an hour to get to MK from Pop last August was when the bus door was closing just as we came out of the bldg. We just couldn't get there fast enough...so had to wait for the next bus. It was about 11:00 in the morning, so we had to wait almost half an hour for the next bus to come. Add the 20 minute or so ride to MK and there you have our 'almost' hour long trip to MK from POP.

We made it from POP to MK in 17 minutes in April!

I didn't think that was correct. Thank you. This does make my travel planning easier. Will they be able to give me a bus schedule when we get to POP or are we on our own in looking for a bus to come? Thanks!!!

I just always waited for the bus... It really was no big deal... SO EASY! Good luck and I hope you enjoy your trip! We are headed to POP for Thanksgiving and really looking forward to it!

The buses do not run on a set schedule. The most you should have to wait is about 20 minutes. If you are trying to plan the trip time to make PS/ADR then you need to allow 20 minutes for the trip, possible 20 minute wait for the bus, and then the time it takes for you to get from the bus stop, through security, turnstiles, and down main street. Now you may be at 50 minutes to get to your final destination.

One additional comment about the different times for how long it takes to get from a resort to a park. The extreme number is often given for those who will be attending a scheduled event at the park (an ADR, a parade, fireworks, a tour) and need to allow for 'worst case' transportation timing.

If you had a 6PM ADR at the MK, you wouldn't want to walk out the door of your room at 5:30PM assuming it would only take 22 minutes to get there....

Congrats!! Maybe you can pm me and let me know how POP was on your trip (transportation, etc.). I'd love to hear before we leave!

Have a wonderful time!!!

Agree with all you said, but in our case we also had to wait an additional 20 minutes or so for a rookie bus driver to load and secure 2 ECVs that rolled up just as we about to pull away from the curb. By the time we were actually leaving POP, another bus was waiting to pull into the loading area right behind our bus. 30 minute wait for bus, 5 minutes to load riders, 20 minutes struggling with ECVs, 15 minute drive to MK and 15 minute walk from farthest possible bus terminal to front gates equals late for LTT dinner ADR.

Just and FYI...
In May of last year it took over 1 hour to get from Epcot to SSR. My brother and I didn't wait more than 5 minutes to get on the bus, but the minute we hit the road we were in some major congestion. It took FOREVER. Yes, it was right after Illuminations, so we expected a longer ride. But, that was the only time I have ever waited that long, and I've been in WDW for some major parties and holidays (4th of July, 50th Celebration, Halloween, etc).

If I took the trip ten times and the times from stepping out of the Pop Century main building door to stepping off the bus at Magic Kingdom were 17, 20, 22, 23, 23, 24, 30, 35, 45, and 65 minutes respectively, what is the true travel time?

I think DrTomorrow is correct. Sometimes in estimating the time, people neglect the walk from the hotel door to the bus stop, the time it takes to walk from the bus stop to the front gates, go through security, walk to the restaurant.

We had well over an hour ride from GF to TL. Not only did we have to wait for the bus, it went to DTD and we waited there for awhile.

Ironically, I always feel the more crowded the parks, the faster the Disney Transportation because they run more buses.

seashoreCM is also correct. The variables are enormous. I even forget where I was going but I distinctly remember the broken ECV mechanism, not only taking that bus out of commission but then we had to wait a second time to load the ECV. :moped:
