Last Friday, the Winter Springs, Florida police received a call that 11 year old Nadia Bloom was missing. Nadia is a slightly autistic little girl who lives on the edge of Lake Jessup. The Lake Jessup area is a densely forested area full of bogs, snakes, alligators and other not so nice types of wildlife.

It turns out that Nadia had recently read an American Girl book about a little girl who went on a nature walk in the woods. Nadia's little sister told police that she thought Nadia was doing her own nature walk.

The police found her bike at the edge of the woods. There was no sign of foul play, so they began searching the woods. Over the past few days, there have been searches using police, volunteers, dogs, heat-seeking radar helicopters and other types of technology to try to find Nadia. At 3:30 pm today, the police chief said that the search would probably change from a rescue to a recovery operation. No one thought she'd be able to survive past five days.

At the same time, the police were questioning registered sex offenders in the area on the chance that Nadia had been abducted.

Last night, a member of the Bloom's church said he had a dream of where he could find Nadia. Early this morning, he went to the woods and walked straight to her. She was about a mile from her home stuck in the mud. She couldn't move. The volunteer used his cell phone to call authorities and report he had found her. He didn't know where he was. They had to use pings on his cell phone to find them. They are now trying to bring her out. It is sound densely overgrown that they are having to daisy-chain the stretcher over the vegetation. Forty law enforcement officers are forming the chain.

Amazingly, Nadia is doing well. She is covered in mosquito bites and is dehydrated. They have her hooked to an IV. They have been trying to bring her out for close to an hour now. That is how dense the vegetation is in the area.

I am so thankful they found this sweet little girl. The odds were not with her. This is mating season for alligators and the Lake Jessup area is thick with them.

I don't know if God lead this volunteer to Nadia or if it was dumb luck. I don't care. I will take my miracles where I can get them.

I've been glued to the TV all morning, it's so exciting. Praise the Lord, he is so good!!!!!

What an amazing story! I heard the story on the Today about her missing and then read that the area is densely populated with alligators and had been so worried. Thank you for sharing this wonderful news!

I saw that she was missing and presumed to have "walked off". What a HUGE relief that she's been found. And WOW ... what a dream! I LOVE it!!

Great news!!!

It was God! James King said he prayed this morning the Lord would lead him to her and it's exactly what happened! He said he repeated this verse while he searched this morning-

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Nadia's Dad said Give all the glory to God!

Praise the Lord he is so great!!!!!

Well, I guess he took his eye off her for a few moments.....:littleangel:

Moreover, I am glad that the man decided to "listen" to his dream. How many of us may have ignored a dream like that? Seriously, I probably would have dismissed it, I won't lie.

Wonderful news! I was praying for this little girl as well, and hoping for a positive outcome! :goodvibes

omg, they found her? thank you for posting this. I didn't realize that is where she was...I know that area because a friend of mine lives there and have visited/boated there. I can only imagine how scary that must have been for her. glad it had a happy ending.

Thank you so much for posting this. I have avoided the news because this story broke my heart. I have a very adventurous seven year old with autism and my greatest fear is her wandering off to explore.

Thank God this girl was found and is doing well!

I am sorry, but is anyone else's "hinky" alarm going off? Girl is missing for 5 days and suddenly a man she knows from church miraculously knows where to find her?

I would love, absolutely love, for this to be a true miracle. But, more often than not, there is a logical explanation rather than a miraculous one.

Thank you MickeyF - I was feeling that as well and THEN feeling that I was a big old wet blanket....

Yes. It definitely crossed my mind. I hope she hasn't been victimized, but I am also relieved she is alive and with her family. Kids with autism aren't very good liars. If there is more to the story it will come out.

Me too. I hope I'm wrong. I'm really glad she was found & she's OK.

She wasn't missing for 5 days, she was missing for 90 hours.

Missing Girl Found Alive In Woods By Church Member

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. -- It was an answer to many prayers. After days of being lost in dangerous woods near alligator-infested waters, an 11-year-old Seminole County girl was found alive Tuesday.

Nadia Bloom’s family laid eyes on her for the first time in days when she was carried out of the woods and place into an ambulance. She had been missing for around 90 hours.

Nadia disappeared in the woods behind her home in the Barrington Estates subdivision in Winter Springs and was found Tuesday morning by a volunteer from her own church, James King, who went out on his own.

“The love of everybody, from everybody across the country praying,” Nadia’s father said shortly after the girl emerged from the woods (watch interview with parents). “It all came so fast and just shows the compassion of the human spirit.”

Winter Springs Police Chief Kevin Brunelle said Nadia did sustain a lot of bug bites and was dehydrated. The chief said an IV of fluids was given to her before she was removed from the woods.

Crews carry Nadia Bloom into an ambulance after rescuing her from dense woods.

Around 11:40am, Nadia emerged from the woods, being carried by a team of rescuers, including the man who found her. It took the rescue crew about two hours to remove her from the location she was found.

James King was hard to miss as he left the scene literally covered in mud. He told one of his pastors that he was nearly waist-deep in mud to get to where Nadia was found, walking alone with a water pack on his back.
King had been part of the search for days, but Tuesday, just hours before experts said Nadia should have been dead, he decided to trek into an area no one had gone before.

"In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path and he directed my path straight to her," King shouted to the crowd, reinforcing the role he says his faith played, after finding Nadia and returning with the rescue crew. "Because I prayed that all the way."

Nadia's family was anxiously waiting at an area just on the edge of the woods for the little girl's arrival. The girl's parents and sister were visibly elated.

“You’ve got to believe God’s hand was in it,” said Dan Holland, senior pastor at the family's church, Metro Life Church in Casselberry. “She was able to talk.”

King was searching the woods for Nadia on his own and found the girl alive Tuesday morning, saying he could only see bug bites when he found her. Holland said King told him he said a prayer and asked God to lead him to Nadia. According to Holland, King was pushing through a swamp-area when he made the discovery.

James King believes divine intervention helped lead him to where Nadia Bloom was in the woods.

"He said he went straight out through the swamps and found her,” Holland said.

Investigators said Nadia was found in an area they called Zone 13, which had not been previously searched and is possibly the most dense woods of the search area.

Search teams had been looking for Bloom since she was first reported missing last Friday after her bicycle was found parked near a wooded area in her neighborhood. The mildly autistic girl is fascinated by the outdoors and wildlife, so investigators thought she might have tried to explore the dense woods behind her house off SR-434 near Lake Jesup.

Friday, Nadia's bike was found at the end of a cul-de-sac in her Barrington Estates subdivision (see map), near only one home, standing deliberately with the kickstand down and her helmet hanging on the handlebars.

WFTV learned about Nadia's fascination with a popular "American Girls" doll. The fictional character, Lanie (more about Lanie character), is an outdoorsy nature-lover who explores her own backyard. WFTV learned Nadia had a book about Lanie and two cameras with her in the backpack she was wearing Friday.

Nadia has a form of autism similar to Asperger's Syndrome. Friends said she's extremely bright, a spelling bee winner, but also the type to get lost in her own world.
