Trouble using resort charging after check-out

We have always been told that our resort charging cards are good until midnight, the day of check-out and we have used that privilige often in the past. I don't like to carry much cash in the parks, so it is a great option for us.

We have had trouble on the last 3 trips (Christmas, a January weekend, and President's Day weekend). We can use it up to 11am and then...... BAM..... it will no longer work. The CM calls the resort and the resort tells them to manually charge it. Unfortunately, we have had some CM's absolutely refuse to call because "you are not a resort guest" and we have walked away from the hassle. Quite irritating and time consuming. Not a magical end to a vacation, either!

The resorts always tell us one thing but the reality is different.

Anybody else have a similiar experience or suggestions?

We have never had any trouble using the card after checkout.

The only times we do have trouble is if we reach the resort set credit limit..we have to have the resort charge our card on file and start over again.

not a big deal for us....if they won't take the resort card, we just use the credit card that supported the resort card... :smooth:

I never noticed this so thanks for the warning...we normally don't charge much that day although DH does sometimes but it's never been after 11:00a. We usually go back to cash. Good to be aware of.

Did you pay for your resort with cash, credit card or debit card? I could understand the problem if you paid for your resort with cash, or check but I wouldn't think there'd be a problem if you used a credit card.

I was always under the impression that it stoped at check out. If you have already checked out then tec. you are not a resort guest anymore. How can you charge back to a room that you don't have?

We just returned from a trip on 2/17. Yes we were absolutely allowed to charge on our room card after check out. We put late lunch on it and last minute souvenirs!! You are supposed to be able to use it until midnight. The resort keeps the file open and can add these charges. You can probably check in at the front desk just before you depart to get a final copy of your bill.

I don't know what has been going wrong for you, but something has. Could you have possibly maxxed out your room card?? I know they put about $1500 limit on deluxes and much less on mods and values. We have actually maxxed out our limit on a couple of long stays and the store/restaurant would call and get it taken care of with the resort. No problems.

We have done these post check out charges on many stays.

We've used ours as late as 9:30 PM after check-out. The only problem we ever had was last December at CBR. We were able to use the room card to charge after check-out with no problem. However, I had to call them three times after we got home to get them to put the charge through! We must have fallen through the cracks somehow. I maintain a separate bank account for vacation expenses, and I keep a careful eye on how much money goes into that account, and how much comes out. I get very uncomfortable when there's too much money in there (money that should already have been spent)!

I have used it fairly late with no problems....

I've used it up to 8 or 9 pm with no problem on at least a dozen trips...

No, the card was not maxes out and it was a credit card. We called OKW and "Ed" said that we should not have any problems with charging but we did.

We have always used the resort card after check-out and then received an ammended bill in the mail later.

We went through the same thing this past December. In the past, I have always charged a big shopping trip at downtown disney after checkout with no problem.

This time almost immediately after checkout at wilderness lodge, I was unable to get approval for a small purchase in the wl giftshop. I didnt bother having them call it in though, just paid another way.

We have always been told its good to midnight and just gotten a supplemental bill.

We were definately no where near the limit they gave us.

Nope, it's good until midnight, and we have used our resort cards up until around 5pm the day of checkout without a problem.

We have always been able to charge on check-out day. We used a debit card. Our weeks charges as one big charge, and then the after-checkout charges showed up sep, on our statement, rather than one big charge.

At first I was going to post, that maybe it had to do with the tickets you were using. Our last trip, we had length of stay tickets, which are also good until midnight on check-out day, but I know we did not use that type of ticket, on our trip before that, and were still able to charge.
