Trouble getting a preferred room at CBR

For all of you experts out there - I booked a room only reservation at CBR this morning for 3/19 - 3/26. I wanted a preferred location room but they said none were available. Should I keep calling back to see if any preferred location rooms become avaiable or is it pretty much a lost cause at this point. Thanks your help.

I wouldn't spend the extra money to get a preferred room, just request a standard room closer to Old Port Royale, like Jamaica 45.

We stayed in Martinique and it was nice but we totally missed walking across Parrot Cay and seeing the pretty landscaping and ducks, etc.

I would keep calling. I liked our preferred location. If I wanted to walk across Parrot Cay I could but we were close to Old Port Royale and main pool.

The last few times we wanted to stay at CBR we could not get a preferred location and did call every day. We need a location near the bus and OPR due to medical reasons. Once again we did not stay at CBR. It used to be my favorite moderate, but we've not been able to stay there since they changed Martinique to preferred.

CBR is lovely, but very spread out. I would not mind as much if walking was not a medical issue - there are still lots of nice locations to request.

Sometimes planning a Disney vacation feels like a game that's not as much fun to play anymore. Of course, we keep playing anyway ;)

Maybe it was because I booked about 10 months out but I got a prefered room right away.

I wonder if it will still be available to me when I check in. They did charge me the extra $35 for it but what happens if I get there and they, for some reason, have no more left?

If that's what you booked and paid the deposit then you will be in a preferred location. It's not actually the room that is preferred, but the distance to Old Port Royale. All the rooms are the same, except the colors are different for each village :)

Enjoy! I miss that resort!! It has larger rooms than other moderates. Rooms are almost the same size at WL & AKL (344 sq ft) at 340 sq ft :flower:

CRO contacted Guest Relations who called me back, then she called CBR to try to get a room blocked - CBR told them I would have to book a water view in order to be assured of a blocked room in Jamaica 45
I just called CRO and requested Jamaica 45 (preferred rooms are not available with my BDP code). She put the request in the computer, but she did NOT call CBR ???
**** I am wondering.... does CRO have to call CBR to definitely "block" a room? Do you think I will NOT get my request if she didn't call? When you call to request a building and they put it in the computer, will it be a DEFINITE thing? Oh, by the way, mine is not a "water view" either.

thanks in advance

It is just a request that you made. So it may or may not be honored. At CBR they have preferred locations costing extra nightly. If you pay for those locations you will be assigned a room there otherwise everything else is just a request.

I'm sorry I should have been clearer: The only reason CRO contacted Guest Services for me was due to unusual circumstances. It was a serious medical reason which did not require a handicapped room. They do not normally block rooms for guests - requests are just that, a request. When you check in they will try to put you in Jamaica 45 if it's available, but if not then rememebr, it;s a request only. If they do not have rooms in Jamaica, ask if they could show you a map and help you find a room closer to Old Port Royal. Other buildings are also just about as close as 45.

It's a lovely resort!! :)

The CRO will send your reservations to CBR about 3 days prior to your arrival. With the reservations will be your requests. Like Safetymom said, the requests may or may not be met unless you pay for the requests up front such as a prefered location. I went ahead and shelled out the extra $ to make sure we did. I have heard horror stories about guests with small children and long walks. Also DS is an animal freak. If we are walking that distance and he sees a duck, he'll squeal, run, and try to grab a duck. Lord help us if he manages it. LOL

Wow... thanks for the quick response SafetyMom :)

Okay, so when BaciBecky talks about a "blocked" room, there is really no such thing?

What do you recommend I do to increase my chances of getting Jamaica 45 ? .......
Should I call the actual resort 2 days prior to arrival?
Should we try to check in EARLY.... would that help?
also, we want a roll-away.... would trying to check in early help with that too?

thanks :)

Oops!
Sorry BaciBecky and GoofyDad ...... we must have all been typing at the same time.
thanks for your quick responses too :)

Send a fax request in. No more than 3 days prior to your arrival. But be sure to "ask" for the requests. Dont "demand" them. And try to request as few things as you can. Makes it easier on them.

Hi,

It looks like my answer about the blocked room posted after others, but if you scroll back one or two posts it's there and explains the blocked room issue.

If it's not available there is nothing anyone can do - there are lots of rooms in 45 and in nearby buildings which will be just as good. Try not to stress out about it, if possible :) If you do fax or ask at check-in be cheerful, never demanding or stressed - it does not help anyone and the CM's truly do their best to honor room requests :) I know it's easy to get stressed about room location!

You'll love CBR!

BaciBecky is correct. The CM's there have bent over backwards for me whenever I have called about anything. They are great and I am sure they will do whatever they can to accomodate you.

Thanks everybody. :)
I know we will have a great time no matter what.
Can hardly wait! :cool1:
