Trouble booking beach bash?

I just tried to book the beach bash for 6/23 and was told there was no availability. MS said she had never seen these events sell out. I'm hoping it was a problem with the system. Has anyone else been told there is no availability?

FWIW, Last year's Beach Bash events had opening morning booking difficulties...

Strange that the CM said that because I don't think I've ever heard of a DVC event like this that didn't book up.

They began booking almost a month ago so it's not outside the realm that at least one of the dates has filled up but you might call back and have someone double check.

Thanks. I figured I'll call back and hope for the best. Obviously it's my fault as I totally missed the booking date; I thought it was the end of April.

Reservations opened for members with a resort reservation on 4/8. On 4/22, members not staying on-site could call to reserve if space was still available.

Thanks for the update! I guess I was thinking 4/22 not 4/8. Anyway, not the end of the world as we went last year and we have water park passes!

Yes I will. They also just told me 6/29 was completely booked for anyone who is looking for that date.

This year, they included Vero Beach Reservations & DCL Reservations that were for 1 day before or after the event date you wanted to attend. Plus they also opened reservations to off-site guests after the initial 2 week booking window for those with room reservations ended.

Yes that could explain it. I actually thought the party was crowded last year so I'm surprised they needed more people!

I tried to book 6/29 today and was told it was sold out. I booked 7/6. I asked if I should call back to check for cancelations, but she said no - they don't get released back into the system.

Just an update. I've called a couple times and have gotten different answers regarding whether cancellations are released back. Certainly they should know the answer and I don't want to waste my time calling so I emailed member satisfaction. I got a call right away. The person I spoke with didn't know the answer about cancellations either so she put me on hold, spoke with Member Services, came back and told me that no they don't get released back. That would mean there is no point in calling back to check availability, but I'm not sure I believe her 100% either!

That makes little sense. If they don't release back then they aren't maximizing the party space they have reserved with CR conventions.

I agree. I can't see any reason why they wouldn't. In addition they are telling people to call and cancel if they can't attend...

Apparently, they changed the requirements and removed the option for those not staying on-site. The web page for the event was changed to reflect the revised booking policy.

Hmm. I was successful booking the party a few weeks ago, even though we are not staying in a DVC resort the night of the party. The CM told me that reservations were now open to all DVC guests. Perhaps they changed the policy due to the interest. I'm so sorry.
