So we just booked a room for the Tropicana in October for 3 nights. We got it because of the location and breakfast (muffins and juice is definitely ok for us), but we've been reading some reviews about the dirty floors. I know people on here have stayed here, has anyone had a bad Tropicana experience? Should we switch hotels? :confused3

My wife and I use to stay at tropicana all the time. For the last few years we refuse to stay there. The employees (mainly front desk) are very rude. They act like they could care less if you stay there. It hapened a few times to us so we stay at the candy cane inn now. Candy Cane Has the best breakfest anyways and they are extreamly nice

We stayed there in 2006 and had no problems at all. The girls at the front desk were always nice and plesant and our room was fine.

My family just got back from a 6 day stay from the Tropicana and I thought it was OK.
The continental part of breakfast was made of crossants, danishes, and muffins which after day 4 I got very tired of.
I thought the room was nice and clean.
The staff was nice and the housekeeping did basic cleaning but never re-stocked the soap. My family had to resort to using the pump-soap that the hotel had inside the shower.

We have stayed there. For a few months it was our favorite hotel. Then we found the Candy Cane Inn and HoJo. Now we always try HoJo first, the CCI, then we will move to the Trop. But it definitely is not our first choice now. The rooms are not that bad, but the HoJo's are much nicer!

I found the Tropicana to be nice and clean. I didn't spend much time on the floor, so I can't attest to the cleanliness of the carpet, but I do know that housekeeping vacuumed every day. Not bad at all for a basic motel and I wouldn't hesitate staying there again. :thumbsup2

We really like the Tropicana, it's our choice out of the motels on Harbor. Nice clean quiet rooms, good sized pool and hot tub. Location just can't be beat!

We had tried Hojo's in June, but will be going back to the Tropicana next time we stay offsite. We liked it better.

We've stayed there on all three of our family trips to DL and like the Tropicana. It's perfect for us, and I've never noticed a dirty floor.

On the day we were leaving, we loaded up the car, hopped in, and the stupid car wouldn't start. It was a dead battery. When I went to the front desk, they whipped out the phone book and started calling places for us, and suggested AAA might be a better buy for us. And it was. But they have never been rude. Oh, and when their lobby computer was down, and the one at the little store next door, the very nice lobby girl actually took the time to look up directions on how to get to Pink's, and the American Girl Store in LA.

So, yes, they are helpful and clean, and we would stay there again.

It's not bad. It was very clean the times we have stayed. Can't beat the location. Walk across the street and there you are! We have had very friendly front desk service. If you need something in your room, they will make sure you have it. I wasn't impressed with the breakfast as I like to have a full breakfast with such a busy walking day ahead of me. We usually go to one of the restaurants close by. The only thing, it's the kind where cars are parked right outside the first floor doors. Ask for a room up high if you don't want to listen to that. The place is rectangular in shape. The middle is the pool area, and the area around is parking. One side has two floors where the 1st floor doors open to the parking area and the 2nd floor doors open to a hallway. The other side are three floors where the doors open to the outside.

We stayed here for a weekend trip. The room was clean and comfortable. Below is a couple of pics from our room.

The front desk staff was fine. Not overly friendly, I’d say efficient is more accurate. We felt like they were in a hurry, like they had many things to do and not nearly enough people or time to do it. There were only two other groups of people in the lobby besides us and one was already being checked in. There were three people behind the desk, so they didn’t seem to be short staffed for what was currently going on in the lobby, but maybe there were other things going on too.

I'd stay here again without a second thought. HTH!
