Tropicana, thoughts, reviews - please

If anyone would like to share their thoughts or reviews of the Tropicana, I'd appreciate it.

Try to get a room reserved many are sold out because of the convention. We're going in January.

CCI, BW -all, and a few others are booked.

we stayed there way back in 2004. we thought it was ok for the price and everything was clean. We didn't spend much time in our room though. The kids enjoyed the pool and the walk to DL was easy. We had breakfast at Dennys most mornings. We are going this Oct. and we would have stayed there again but decided to stay on property this time.

We're staying at the Tropicana in October. I was wondering how it was too. I actually booked it through Disney Travel.
I love how close it is to the parks and we get free breakfast. Not a fancy affair but it will hold us over until lunch.

We have stayed at the Tropicanna, as PP said, its alright. The location is great. One of the closest. The room we had was updated but really small. The breakfast is almost non-existant so I wouldn't count on it, and if I remember correctly it started pretty late in the morning. They charge for parking and wi-fi, so be sure to add that to your overall cost. And many of there rooms have a shower only. The pool is in the middle of the parking lot with no foliage along the fence, so you really feel like you're in a parking lot. Others in the area disguise this a little better. Our room had an interior corridor with indoor/outdoor carpeting that was pretty dirty.The staff and housekeeping were standard. It wouldn't be my first pick, but its not terrible.
Just a place to sleep.

YUP, WHAT INTERSTATE-70 said, just about sums it up. Standard motel, nothing the least bit fancy about it. Stayed five nights several years ago. NO BUGS, not that I observed anyway....

Ditto what the others said. We were there not quite a month ago. Room was clean, but small. Our AC was LOUD, but we didn't complain. After the first night, we were used to it, and so tired it didn't bother us.

Plenty of room for my DH, DD (3) and me, but it would have felt crowded with anyone else. Beds were comfy, which was nice. Fridge in the room, and I think microwave, too.

Breakfast was lame--donuts and honey bun/danish things.There were very small apples and oranges, too, plus coffee and orange "juice." Honestly, I wouldn't consider it anything but a snack to tide you over until you can get something more substantial later.

It is very close to the parks, so that is an advantage. Our room was near the front, and we didn't hear any noise. We would stay there again, but prefer the BWPPI next door.

We like Tropicana because they are clean, very close, and housekeeping comes every day unless you tell them not to. Of course, we do not need much. A clean bathroom and bed. It is our preferred hotel/motel since we like to be as close as we can when we stumble back after the park closes for the night.

We do not eat breakfast at the hotel, so I cannot say anything about that.
We noticed that you can actually access the free wifi at McDondalds at the hotel, so we used that.

I am staying there this Saturday when I leave for my Disneyland. We chose to stay here because we typically stay at the Tropicana or the Carousel when we go to Disneyland. The rooms are very nice, they were updated a few years ago, the beds are comfortable, the air conditioning we never had issues with. I really enjoy the pool/hot tub area. The location is AWESOME! Its like 200 feet away from the Disneyland cross walk. You cant get too much closer. There are plenty of restaurant options in the area, and the hotel has a nice late night convenient store and gift store attached.

Dont let the words "The room we found was small" scare you. I am the youngest in my family at 29, and I always share the room with 2-3 other adults and we find it liveable. Have I stayed in larger rooms at other places? Yup! But I wasnt at the Disneyland resort then. My belief is that the Disneyland resort attracts THOUSANDS of people every day. If not just to the resort, but to the convention center a few blocks away. Convention and park guests need to be put up for a stay somewhere and so most of the hotels or motels in the area will condense a bit to accommodate as many people as possible. The size of the rooms shouldnt be the main concern. As long as its clean, you have a comfy place to sleep and shower then you are golden.

I think the only downfall I can think of is that there is no real closet area except for beside the sink which is outside the bathroom. The closet area is basically a wall coat rack, and there is also no safe for personal items. But when we stay there, my family each takes a clothing drawer to store our clothes, and then stacks our luggage we wont need for the rest of the week in the closet area so we arent stepping over it. If we need to lock something up, we lock it in our luggage with a lock and key we packed along with us.

Let me recommend the 3rd floor to you if you choose to stay here. That is the free continental breakfast room floor and so you are not hauling breakfast up and down the stairs or elevator.

We just got back form our trip and stayed at the tropicana for the first time.

it is very close. The breakfast we skipped because it is donuts/pastries and coffee and juice... Milk can be had for a dollar also cereal for another dollar.

Parking came to ten dollar and change. Room was fine. Nothing great. But very doable. Checkin is at 4PM which was unexpected (booked on travelocity.com which was great). VON's is close by and we stocked up on $120 in grocoeries for our four nights. Including two casses of water which we brought to the parks saving us $3.00 x 48 bottles. We used the groceries for breakfast and to bring water and a snack into the park...

I liked the Tropicana. We had two adjoining rooms on the 1st floor and it felt so close to the park gate and it was nice having our cars right there. We could watch the fireworks from the front of the motel (near the street). It was one of my favorite trips when we stayed there. I've also stayed at the Fairfield, Desert Inn, Marriott and Hilton.

We thought it was just okay. Nothing bad. I believe this is motel where the breakfast room was upstairs. I thought that was a tad odd.

Our trip was at least 4 years ago, and maybe they have remodeled since then - but we got a room without a bathtub (just a shower). We had a toddler and the time that did not like showers - so that made things a little challenging.

This would not be our first choice to stay at again. But we would if the price/availability was right.

I have stayed at the tropicana many time in the last 10 years. The breakfast is nothing but pastiry and coffee and juice , you can do better at McDonalds . The parking fee is #10 per day or more if you check in early. the hot tub and pool are great . the rooms are small but have stayed there with four grownups.
The best about the hotel is the walk to the parks.
I'm staying here again for thst years trip in oct with two friends.
