I need some help on deciding which would be better for us. We normally stay in the big chain hotels with the large buffet breakfasts and the really comfy beds however we want to stay across the street to avoid the driving and parking everyday.

I need to know which hotel is the nicest and most comfortable between these two choices. We have the Disney Executive Suite booked at the Tropicana, hopefully my two boys ages 16 & 9 will be comfy on the sofa bed. We also have the C2 room booked at the Desert Inn. There is a $500 savings if we go with the Tropicana. I really need to know if my boys will be able to sleep on the sofa bed. I contacted them and all they will tell me is it is a queen size sofa bed. My son is over 6ft tall so I hope it is a true queen size sofa bed.

Which would you pick?

The Tropicana receives better reviews on Trip Advisor than the Desert Inn. Tropicana is also closer to the entrance of Disneyland and has a convenience store attached.

I would chose the Tropicana over the Desert Inn any day and for any price difference. Had more than one bad experience at Desert Inn and it is someplace we will never stay again!

The Tropicana is very nice and convienient!

I usually stay at the Park Place Inn but they were booked when I went in February, so I tried the Tropicana. I really liked it. I will be staying there again next week. I love the convenience store that is attached.

I'm a big fan of DI&S, but for $500 less I'd go for Tropicana. I noticed they are running their 5 night special again, so if you didn't already get that price and you are staying 5 nights or more, it might be something to look into;).

Wow, for $500 savings I'd surely be happy to try Tropicana!!

I love Desert Inn & Suites, but largely because I've never found a cheaper rate on Harbor. Maybe that's because I reserve so early... I'll stick with my $109 a night. Not as good as the $69/night we had in February, but I'll take it.

In my book, any of those hotels on Harbor between Fairfield and Ramada Maingate would be great as long as they had a fridge/microwave in the room. I just want the cheapest!! And Desert Inn has always been the cheapest for me. I've always had good experiences at DI&S, so it's my go-to place, but wouldn't hesitate to try another place on that block if it was cheaper.

The big question here for OP, though, is the hide-a-bed... Does anyone know if one is better than the other on that front?

The Tropicana does have a fridge and microwave. I got the double queen room there next week for $99 per night."..very happy!

Go for Tropicana! $500 in savings is like over 100 Dole Whips! :)

In all honesty, we have stayed at DI&S once, and will be there again this December. The price won us over. But I know my DH is going to be less than pleased at the hard beds (though he will love the flat pillows!)... And I'll be stuck trying to dry my fluffy body off with a towel meant for a 2yo. But, it was cheap. And I always look at cost savings in Dole Whips, and, in our case, we're saving like 5 Dole Whips a day by staying at DI&S.... I get the "love" disboarders have for DI&S (they are so close and SO cheap!), but it seems like, as far as quality and appeal, Tropicana will beat out DI&S every time!

This is all really helpful. My one concern is the sofa bed at Tropicana, can both boys sleep comfortably on it. Some sofa beds are good but others aren't. With the DI&S room we got the three room suite so each boy has their own bed and then we have the living room as well. I just wish somebody could tell me if an adult has slept on the sofa bed at the Tropicana and had no problem with it. I guess we will all be so tired after the parks maybe the boys just won't care as long as they can lay down.

Thought I would bump this just to see if anybody can help me with the sofa bed info, is it good for my two boys (one is an adult size teenager).

Thanks!
