the HoJo is full for the dates that I want. I only say that since a lot of people on here suggest that hotel. Please let me know which one you would choose and why. The price seems to be within a couple of dollars and I have looked at so many reviews I cant keep them straight (they all seem to be the same) some people do not like the free breakfast some love it, bed comfy not comfy, noise, etc.

what are the standouts in your mind if any, or are they truely interchangeable?

I am another person that can give WDW advice with the best of them, but DL planning has me a bit perplexed. It is just me and my nephew (6) for his first visit. we are staying 3 nights sun-wed in the beg of may.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.:worship:

i've never stayed at the carousel, but i can recommend either the tropicana or camelot. we're staying again at the camelot in may. both have free parking, free continental breakfast, a swimming pool (my niece liked the swimming pool at the tropicana better than the camelot - the camelot's pool is on the 5th floor, i think...tropicana is ground level). camelot and tropicana are sister-hotels, so they are pretty much the same (i know tropicana is a few dollars cheaper though...not sure why, it is closer to the crosswalk than camelot. maybe camelot has had recent rennovations?!) if you guys aren't going to ge in the room that much, i say tropicana and save yourself a few dollars! my DH preferred the camelot so that's why we are staying there again.

oh, if it matters...some tropicana rooms only have shower stalls (no bath tub). camelot has all bath tubs. this is important to us with 2 little girls.
HTH!

Don't think you will go wrong with any of these hotels, we haven't stayed at Camelot but it gets positive reviews here. We prefered Carousel over Tropicanna as the rooms a little bigger, the breakfast was better and the fridge and microwave were both better. The Tropicanna has free parking though and a much better pool and a hottub that Carousel doesn't have.

We just stayed at the Tropicana...it is a standard size room with 2 queen beds. Our room unfortunately was one without a tub. They ran out of money before the renovations were complete. Mgmt told me to request a room with a tub next time. There are only a few rooms that don't have them. It is very close to the crossing & has 2 gift shops & a coffee/pizza place in it. There's a Cold Stone Creamery right next door & McD's is a few buildings away..... great location....it was quiet...comfortable & we would stay there again!! Hope that helps!

We have stayed at Tropicana and Carousel. They both have there ups and downs, but given the room size and continental breakfast, I would choose the Carousel. You can't beat the Tropicana location, though.

We are staying at Hojo this year, but last year stayed at Camelot and loved it! (we just want to see if Hojo lives up to what everyone says)

The Camelot was not too far, the rooms were nice (we were lucky enough to get a room with a vanity OUTSIDE the bathroom), beds were nice.

You could see the fireworks from the balcony (not really a balcony, but the walkway that we walked to enter the room - we had a room on the 3rd floor - facing McDonalds).

Only negative is that the walls were a bit thin (we could hear the water and footsteps of the room next door - but maybe that is because there was an adjoining room), and that the door didn't seem airtight (we could feel the cold air at night where the seal should be tight).

We would stay there again in a heartbeat - and the continental breakfast has WONDERFUL coffee, muffins, cereal, fruit, and pastries - which you can get a tray and take up to your hotel room if you have people who you need to bribe out of bed. :cutie:

thanks everyone that is exactly the information I was looking for. I will try to get a reservation for the best price I can. It looks like all of them are a good location.

I am going to say the Tropicana if your are asking my honest opinion. I am staying there again in May when I go. Much better service then the Carousel and the hotel is a few steps closer to the Disneyland crosswalk. Although the Carousel does have nicer rooms hands down and comfy beds, the Tropicana has a late night convenient store attached to it, a better pool, free parking, better service, and the continental breakfast I found was a bit better.

I also say Tropicana. I think the service is fanatastic and you can't beat the location! :thumbsup2

we loved camolot it was nice not to much but not as nice or cheap as hojos hehe sorry but id pick it if i had to chose between the three you said

for some reason, i thought all rooms at the camelot (and tropicana) had the vanity outside of the bathroom?! :confused3

both our rooms at the tropicana and camelot were like this. it's nice when we're all getting ready in the morning and you don't have to wait for someone to get done showering in order to brush your teeth!

Yeah at the Tropicana the bathroom sink is outside the bathroom. It does make it easier for others to get ready while another person is having a shower.
