Tropical Storm Noel - NOT a threat

Tropical Storm Noel (pronounced "knoll," BTW, because he's a boy-storm) is currently just north of the eastern tip of Cuba, moving slowly NW. The forecast track is for the storm to move through the central Bahamas and approach the SE coast of Florida on Wednesday, but not come ashore. Wednesday afternoon, the storm is expected to make a pronounced turn to the NE and move away from the US.

This system is not expected to reach hurricane status, and it will probably be a rain event, with the worst weather during the daytime hours on Wednesday. Other than rain, it is not currently expected to have much impact on WDW. VB should expect rain, winds around 50 MPH or so, and high stormy seas due to the position of the storm and wind rotation on Wednesday.

Hopefully that track will hold and all we'll get is some much-needed rain.

Thanks. We arrive at WDW on Friday, and have been watching this storm closely. Hoping our MNSSHP on Friday night does not get much residual rain!

I wasn't going to update this thread because this storm poses no threat, but I saw a silly headline in a Seattle newspaper this morning and wanted to reassure folks.

After a period of basically being stationary, TS Noel has started to make the predicted turn to the NE. Noel is moving away from Florida, and will rapidly accellerate to the NE...clearing the Bahamas this evening and reaching Nova Scotia on Sunday.

TS warnings were issued for part of the lower SE coast of Florida due to an outlying wind band (not the storm itself), but those will be taken down later today. The storm will have little effect on WDW (may actually improve the weather there).

The surf at VB will be rougher than normal and visitors there should be alert for rip tides and heavy waves. Other than that and a little rain occasionally, nothing to worry about.
