Tropical Storm/Hurricane Coming?

Miranda, So glad to hear that you are hanging tight and still have power! I hope your boyfriend's family stays safe and pulls through okay!

Prayers, good thoughts, and Godspeed to everyone in the panhandle. :grouphug:

Thank you so much! I seriously think the kind prayers and good wishes have made a huge difference. Unfortunately, we have gotten word that an elderly man (77 y.o.) passed away this morning of a heart attack. He had gone to the Civic Center for shelter and I guess the stress got to him. Also, a three year old died his/her parents lacked judgement and decided to try to evacuate from Ft. Walton Beach right before the storm! :sad2:

Miranda,
Sad to hear of the casualties :sad2:, especially for the little boy. I think everyone here have you and all the people in the Hurricane path, in our prayers...Be safe and Godspeed!!!!!!!

my mom lives in navarre and it seems to be she only had some damage to her fence and some guys shed in her backyard. she was able to call us on her cell. we have been worried all day. how devastating for the panhandle to go thru this so soon after Ivan.

We were watching our local news when Dennis made landfall. We lost power about 11:15 this morning because of the winds. We finally got power back about 15 minutes ago. Thank goodness for cell phones. I was able to keep in touch with DD and my mom. She had called earlier to see how we were. I just got off the phone from her, had to let her know everything was okay and that we had power.

My prayers go out to all those over in the Okaloosa, Escambia area that were really affected by Dennis.

I have a feeling that I might not be going into work tomorrow as our office street always floods, even with just heavy rains. With the storm surge, I hate to think what it looks like right now. Thankfully we did put plastic and sandbags in front of the doors. Hopefully this will have kept it out of the office.

How's everyone doing this morning? Panhandle DISers, please check in when you can! :grouphug:

I'm okay!! Haven't made it back home yet, but I talked to my husband, and our house came out fine. Lost the fence, but no leaks or other damage.

:cheer2:

We missed the worst of it. Some branches down, our basketball goal fell down and broke (needed a new one anyway!), some flooding (not us), and we lost power for a few hours last night. All in all, a blessing. Let's hear from more of our western panhandle neighbors. Everyone okay?

Ended up not going to work today as we had no power at the office. Finally came back on this afternoon around 3:30. Have to go in tomorrow. :badpc:

Anyway, we drove around to see what damage there might have been. Not a whole lot of damage in Panama City or PC Beach. A waterspout took a section off the Treasure Ship Restaurant and then we cruised down to look at the beach itself. The errosion is terrible. Foundations of condos and houses undermined because the sand has been washed away.

Other than trees down in some places, not alot of damage. Most of the damage we had last year with Ivan was from the tornados, which we did not have this time.

I pray that those in Navarre and Pensacola faired as well. I know the area. I used to have a friend that lived in Holley by the Sea. My thoughts are with all the Dis'ers in that area.

I'm back and on-line! We just got power back about 45 minutes ago which put us out of power for exactly 47 hours total. That is NOTHING compared to Ivan (2.5 weeks) but this was way hotter because its the heat of the summer. September was much cooler. We did good. Lost only a few trees, power, phones, but not water this time. :teeth:
