Tropical Storm/Hurricane Coming?

Bye, everyone! It looks as though Dennis is on a direct path to us here in Pensacola and we expect to be without power for at least 3 weeks (same as with Ivan). Hopefully we can at least keep our water this time. They are predicting it to hit as a strong three or four. This city can't take much after Ivan. :umbrella: Wish us luck! :wave2:

Glad/sad to see someone else in this mess! I live in Fort Walton Beach, so we're practically neighbors. We also got damage from Ivan and now this one's coming too! For a change I'd like to be on the west side of a hurricane, or better yet, no hurricane at all.
Feels like deja vu putting up the boards on the window all over again. *sigh*
Good luck to you and yours!!!!!

Hi neighbor! :wave2: My boyfriend's family lives in Niceville right near the Mid-Bay Bridge to Destin so they will have it rough as well. This is so tough to be going through again! We lost 33 trees in Ivan so we don't have much left to lose! I hope ya'll fair well and get out of this un-scathed and I agree about having no hurricane for once! More than 1/3 of Escambia county has already evacuated. I will probably go to LaGrange after the storm passes because I cannot stand to be three weeks without electricity. I am spoiled. :p Best wishes and prayers to your family! I'm sure we'll be okay! Be safe!!! :umbrella:

Um, we too build our houses out of cement and wood. What the heck else is there. And I am sorry but if you were directly hit by a cat 4 or 5 hurricane those wood houses would be gone no matter how well they were secured to the ground. When you see Florida’s damage on TV all they show is the worst of the worst (the direct hit of the eye), trust me when I tell you it is not all like that.

After Ivan I had to calm many of my worried family because they were seeing the destruction even in Fort Walton. . .. but they don't bother to tell you that most of those pictures/film are of trailers, manufactured homes, or houses with aluminum roofs, or aluminum sheds. (all of which really shouldn't be in a place where the possibilty of a Hurrican exists.)
We had a bit of damage, but mainly our fence, and leaks from around our air conditioner vent, missing shingles, etc.
My house is old and has lived through these things before, not too worried this time.

You're not spoiled!!!!!! I just about died last time after Ivan! And this is in JULY!!!!! OMG. I'm just praying that it isn't going to be out as long as after Ivan, and ours was only out for 1 week and 5 days (ya, counted the days), but 3 WEEKS! AGH!
I would have left, but as with Ivan, my husband runs a restuarant here and has to stay. . . and there's just no way I'm leaving him. :( Although he's not serving many people, it feels like a ghost town here too.

What a day we had at WDW! The first hurricane Dennis bands moved through around 9am this morning. After evaluating radar and weather forecasts we decided to head to the Magic Kingdom at about the same time. We got there just as it was moving past. We just waited till it went through before we came out of shelter. After these scattered storms went the rain quit completely about 45 min later. It was partly cloudy or overcast with occasional sun the rest of the day until late afternoon. Crowds at MK were very light and we hit a lot of attractions all morning. Rode Space Mountain 3 times for example, 5-10 min waits.

About 4:30pm we had another band/squall line move through. Pretty intense rain for an hour or so with some gusty wind. That all quit and then we just had a few sprinkles the rest of the evening. All WDW activities here were pretty normal. After lunch break at OKW we spent the evening at the Studios and crowds again were very light. We did the 10:30 Fantasmic show and I'd estimate the theatre at 40% full.

Forecast is calling for more showers and scattered T-storms Sunday as Dennis drifts slowly North. WDW is clearly out of the danger area and other than cloud cover and rain bands we're planning on going back to normal WDW operations!

Hope everyone in the Florida panhandle area stays safe and has minimal impact from Dennis. We'll be thinking of you all!

Hope everyone fares well.Hang onto your hats though, another wave has formed off the coast of Africa and is heading west.

Our hopes and prayers go out to all who is in the path of Dennis. May God keep you safe

And everybody is WELCOME here in GEORGIA as it was last year!!

We're getting lots of rain, but nothing like you guys down there,my hubby works for Marriott hotels, and just came back from task force from Tampa, he was there helping out with some repairs and remodeling from the damage caused by Ivan.
And came back to a sold out property due to another storm.

Hi neighbors. We are in Panama City and decided to stay put since we are not in an evacuation zone. Have sent my DD further north to Southport with a friend and her fiance. They are like family to us and Jeremy (fiance) had included her in their plans to go stay at his grandmothers.

We are prepared. We lucked out getting a generator on Friday.

Prayers and thoughts to all others who are in Dennis' path. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Every one stay safe in the path of Dennis our thoughts and prayers are with you. Looks like Pensacola is going to take the brunt of it again. Poor Pensacola. Here in Mobile we had no power for about 5 days after Ivan and this looks to be very similar. See ya later from my boarded up fortress home in Mobile. :rolleyes1

Hi, first post here. Sorry it is on such a terrible subject. We are also in PC. Looks like we will miss the worst of it. So sorry for our Pensacola neighbors. We are praying for you.

My thoughts and prayers are going out to everyone who is being affected by Hurricane Dennis! Take Care!!

Thanks to everyone who had such kind words. Luckily for Pensacola (because we still haven't recovered from Ivan), the winds are coming from the north because Dennis decided to tick east at the last minute. We still have power and are hanging strong and the eye is hitting in about 10 minutes (so we are half way through). Unfortunately, Navarre Beach is where it is making land fall. Please pray for those in Santa Rosa and Okaloosa county. They are going to take a mjor hit and I hope they are doing well. Especially since my boyfriend's family is in Niceville (Okaloosa county by Destin) and they have a boat docked over there. :sad2: I hope everyone comes out safe and thanks for all the love, everyone! It is much appreciated. People around here are very greatful and very resiliant! :wave2:

Miranda, So glad to hear that you are hanging tight and still have power! I hope your boyfriend's family stays safe and pulls through okay!

Prayers, good thoughts, and Godspeed to everyone in the panhandle. :grouphug:
