Tropical Storm Ana

It looks like it will be a busy 2 weeks... Right behind Ana is Invest 90 which is BIG and will liely go tropical shortly... Also 2 more large waves coming off the coast of Africa (one on Sunday, one on Monday Evening).. It has been quiet so we are overdue I guess, thats summer in the gulf for you... :confused3

It does look like the first two will drift to the south and move in right below FL so Disney would be fine (but these things have a mind of thier own) and besides the TV stations have to break out thier "theme music" :rotfl2:

Lets hope these systems all stay at tropical storm level or just disipate and we will just wear ponchos and have a good time anyway (there really is not a better time to ride the water rides then when it is raining) :rotfl:

I hate to fly and we are going to the bahamas this upcoming friday..I don't know what we were thinking booking a bahamas vacation in august..I just hope whatever storms that are headed our way i would know about well in advance so we wouldnt fly in bad weather :scared1:

i wonder how many kids will be in my backyard this year.

Last year during that "hurricane" the caneled the second and third day of school for there was like 30 kids in my back yard with shopping backs with strings attached calling them "kites"

Then we ate lunch outside

That's hilarious

Yah!! Just in time for my trip to Disney!! We were there last year for Fay and now Ana!!
I do have to say we had the best time in the rain last year. Parks were empty and we got to do so much.
I just get a little nervous with the flying so hopefully we aviod all that.

I'm gonna be in Tennessee-ee. I'm gonna be in Tennessee-ee. Na na na boo boo.

Seriously, remember folks. Hurricane Andrew back in 1992 was also the first storm of the season until the middle of August (sound familiar?) It was the costliest natural disaster in US history until Katrina unseated it.

I doubt this will be the same thing (sorry over-eager weather men), but still, the similarities are striking. Keep your guard up, Floridians. Don't forget to hunker down!

We leave a week from tomorrow.
It will definitely be a interesting week watching the weather, although I'm not to concerned since we've already been through Hurricane Frances in 2004.

Besides anything could happen within the next week.

Have they started with the theme music on the news and telling people to be prepared and hunker down.

Gotta love the news people who do nothing but talk about it. In 2004 we heard nothing but hurricane talk. After a while I wouldn't even turn on the tv, didn't want to scare the kids anymore than they already were. We knew it was coming and there was nothing we could do about it, airport closed down on Thursday. Besides, Disney handled everything amazingly, besides the fact that parks were closed for 2 days.

In my honest opinion I wouldn't want to be anywhere else since Disney handles everything so well.

Funny story. From ages six until fourteen (I know), I was so terrified of hurricanes that I would always beg my parents to evacuate whenever one was threatening us (and it was often, since we live in S. Florida). Where should we evacuate to? Disney World, of course.

Eventually I figured out that my house was built with post-Andrew building codes and was one of the safest places to be, but I had seen one too many hurricane documentaries and did not want to go through one.

Que up the panic music!! I just woke up went to the local news website, and thats the lead story. Not even sure if I want to turn on any of the local news channels. The storm is still a long ways away, and nothing is definitive yet, but the panic has started already.

Thanks for sharing that story.

Glad to know your house is safe!!!

I've been through one hurricane but that's one too many for me.

Well, 1 week from today, we'll (hopefully) be sitting at stormalong bay w/ a tropical drink in our hands. Last year, TS Fay joined us for our vacation. I'm hoping these storms avoid Orlando.....

Great! Sounds like it will be the Perfect timeto take an infant to WDW. *Grumblegrumble*

Hopefully the storm will weaken and cause little to no damage if it hits land..

Now we have another named storm...Bill.

They are not sure that Ana is going to be anything serious, but Bill is another story.

BTW, why do all of these hurricanes have to have such wimpy male names? What's next? Dilbert?

Actually, Claudette might be behind Bill.

At least that's what the Weather Channel is reporting.

Crisis music and hunkering down. The news people live for this.

Just found this info:

2009 Hurricane Names
Ana, Bill ,Claudette, Danny, Erika, Fred, Grace, Henri, Ida, Joaquin , Kate, Larry, Mindy, Nicholas, Odette, Peter, Rose, Sam, Teresa, Victor and Wanda

You can also que up the inflated gas prices and the locals filling up multiple gas cans. Here, in NW FL, there will be people lining up with 5-10 gas cans today because we have T.D. Four already in the Gulf and some nerves are still raw from H. Ivan (2004). Just in time for the start of school. :)
