I agree we really need the rain. But lets hope that the winds stay down below Hurricane force even a Cat 1.

I am not liking the Tornado Warnings.

By the way What kind of Weather Radios do you guys have?

I agree--as much as we need rain, we don't need a hurricane. If it would jsut stay like it's been here in the Orlando area this morning, a light steady constant rain, it would be perfect!

The tornado's are what really scare me about hurricanes.

I've got a "Radio Shack Bedisde Weather Radio." It's not fancy, but it definitely works--woke me up this morning around 5:30 when the watch for this county became a warning. I've got to go in and set the prgram to not bother me unless there's a tornado or one or two other things I really need to be woken up for. For the $30 it cost it's a great little machine!

Holly has been watching Bay News 9 this morning. They are keeping pretty current on all of the advisories being released.

Ha ha...for a second I was confused as I was watching The Weather Channel - not News 9! Duh....it's another Holly!

I have The Weather Channel's online thing (forget what they call it). It has puts a little icon at the bottom of my screen which flashes and turns red if there is a weather warning. Other times it's just the current temp. If I click on it it brings up a more in-depth weather report for my area (done by zip code). Plus most of the local stations will do a banner at the bottom of the TV screen if there are any weather alerts.

If you are talking about my post, I should have been more clear--the tropical storm watch became a tropical storm warning (like I couldn't ahve figured that one out on my own LOL!)

Talk of a hurricane only began within the past hour or two.

I think I'll go to Publix after work and sit in a lawn chair and watch the people freak and clear the shelves for a bit of entertainment.

I bought a SONY Dream Machine for my desk at work--large digital clock, CD player, AM/FM radio, local TV stations (audio only), and a weather band radio. Everything in one compact unit with nice sound quality. I think it was in the $60-70 range.

I love the rain we're getting, but now we've got to worry about storm surge at high tide tomorrow. We had houses in our neighborhood that got flooded during TS Josephine and Alberto looks like he's going to make landfall in about the same place. Bleah!

You are so right! Years ago I used to live up north in NH and worked for a supermarket chain. Whenever there were even RUMORS of an impending snowstorm people would go crazy! They'd clear the shelves (mostly of junk food). You'd think they thought they'd be snowed in for WEEKS!

I've only lived in Florida for a year - but it's the same with hurricane warnings - although of course the power outages CAN last longer... Still, gotta have enough junk food!

Hmmm....I think I'll head over to Publix, Wally World AND Win-Dixie and go clear those shelves. MUST have Doritios, Cheetos, oh...and a box of "hurricane wine!"

I'm with you, watching the mad scramble would be entertaining! Especially since my freezer is FULL of food I prepared at work. (Good thing some of this stuff is thaw and grill, eh?)

The only down side to Alberto is that my refrigeration guys were supposed to do the final connections on my walk in fridge and freezer at work and they won't do it in the rain. This is a nail biter for me, because we have Thursday reservations! Eeek!

Hoping the tornados don't touch down-that's my big fear, too. My neck of the woods seems to have been pretty safe in that respect. That could always change.

Cant believe how strengthened and organized. Looks to become Hurricane Alberto by the next advisory. I think possible landfall south of NHC track. Not dramatically far south but closer to Cedar Key.

This could be interesting. Last night the weather people were saying that they felt Alberto could form another center, nearer to the biggest thunderstorms. I'm not a weather forecaster and I don't play one on TV but this looks like that may be what's happening.

IF it is, that would put the center right off of Tampa. Peachy.
