I need hurricane 101, i've lived in California my entire life and we recently bought a house in Florida (Tampa area) and I haven't a clue about anything.
What do we need to prepare? What supplies should we never be left without? Do you need to buy special things for the windows or prevent flooding?
We closed on the house May 30th, but will not move in until June 28.
How long does hurricane season last?
Thanks for all your help.

Blankets / Pillows, etc.
Clothing - seasonal / rain gear/ sturdy shoes
First Aid Kit / Medicines / Prescription Drugs

Tools - keep a set with you during the storm
Vehicle fuel tanks filled

proper identification / immunization records / medications
ample supply of food and water
a carrier or cage

I've also heard people say you can
NEVER have enough batteries.
Hurricane season runs from June 1st thru November 30th but there can be storms before and after that time line.
Window protection is important if the wind speed warrants it. No one around me has anything up for protection for this storm. Of course there's no wind so that's probably why.
