I'm looking into this resort for our 9/04 trip.
Funny thing....even though this resort got 4 votes for favorite off site place to stay (grand tally thread) I get 0 hits when I search the forums for it!!!????

Anyway, can anyone give me any personal experience (+ or -) about this resort? The 2 bedroom cottage looks tiny...is it? What are the grounds, pool and service like? Are the cottages clean and up to date? I hate making reservations anywhere w/o a personal recommendation or two.

Hello!

I stayed at Tropical Palms several years ago with my then boyfriend and we absolutely loved it! The cottage was definitely big enough (we only had a one bedroom) and was clean and up to date. We loved having a kitchen, and would make our own breakfast every morning to save some money. Each cottage also has its own patio, which was our favorite place to relax after a long Disney day. The grounds were very lush and clean, and the resort had a very good, family feel to it. It was very comfortable! The resort is also close to everything, but also feels like it's not right in the middle of everything (does that make sense?!) The pool was nothing special and was full of kids until pretty late at night, so I would definitely request a cottage far from the pool if quiet is important to you :-) All of the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly!

I definitely recommend Tropical Palms. We were going to stay there when we go in January, but ended up deciding to stay on-site instead. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, though!

I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any more questions!

Try doing the search again using just Tropical Palms..

We stayed there in Sept. of 2001 in the 2-bedroom.. Lots of room and I can't say enough good things about it! We absolutely loved it there!!

Friends stayed in the RV portion last year and loved it.
Check with resort before booking this year as I heard it was hit hard by hurricanes. It is directly behind Old town (a fun spot)

Hi, Our party of 4 adults and 2 children stayed at Tropical Palms in early June of this year, (04). We loved it, and have already made reservations for June, next year. The deck is large, with a picknick table and 4 chairs. Our 2-bedroom cottage with loft above was roomy enough for us. It was clean, and the grounds were absolutely fabulous, very lush and "tropical"! The bathroom was average size, the kitchen and breakfast nook about the size of a small apartment, the living room average size with a couch. The bedrooms were small, with just enough room to walk around your bed on the sides, and a couple of feet at the end to get in your closet. The loft above the bedroom also had a closet, with a queen size mattress on the floor. There was plenty of cabinet space, a full size refrig., diswasher, oven, and microwave, all fullsize. We would take our towels to the main building to exchange for clean ones, as many as we wanted. Pool simple, yet clean and nice tropical atmosphere, with food bar beside it, selling breakfast and lunch very very resonable. Staff very friendly. Good luck on your trip!

We have a cottage booked for February so I guess if it was hit, it must now be repaired. We're only staying for 2 nights, after we leave Disney World. I just happened to come across it somewhere and thought it would be a very good idea to stay there instead of onsite. So we're gonna check it out and if we like it, we'll probably stay there on our next trip to save some money with meals! I'll post my "review" of it when we return.

We visited it there begining of December, and if it did have hurricane damage, they have done a great job of cleaning it up. They had a full house (according to all the cars parked outside the park models and the number of RV's) when we visited.
We stayed there several years ago in one of the cabins and really enjoyed it.

Just back, stayed at Tropical Palms for two nights and loved it. No sign of any hurricane damage. We have been onsite Disney people, but after staying here we will probably continue to stay at Tropical Palms due to the full kitchens and relaxing atmosphere.

That is good to know. We'll be going there in May. Thanks for the info.
