It is not Lee yet and may never become Lee. The other area just might become a TS before TD13. Names don't necessarily go in order.
Opinions on it. Keep a watch on both of them and hope the both dissapate.

Funny ....

The earlier NOAA mariner's map had this depression labeled "LEE".... and now the 11PM map discarded the name and now has it labeled as depression 13.

At any rate - I think the 5 day track places this so far away from us that it is of minimal concern = in our case we're sailing on the 3rd for an eastern schedule. My chief concern is in boarding as scheduled - and I assume Disney will take care of the rest to keep us safe with a good schedule of ports (varying as needed if a storm threatens).

tropical depression 13 or lee to be looks to have no effect on our sept 3rd sailing but the one right behind it i just dont know yet maybe ,maybe not

By "Tropical Depression", I thought you meant that miserable feeling we experience when we are on land, at an office, behind a desk, stuck in traffic, or pretending to care when DS feels the need to give me a blow by blow description of his %&#@ Game Cube game, when what we really want to be doing is enjoying a Disney cruise in the Caribbean or the Bahamas.

I went to Tulane for Law School, spent 3 years in NOLA, go back and visit a couple times a year, and am supposed to go in a month--hope they've got some pixie dust going on in the Big Easy for the clean up, since apparently that last minute shift to the East was a dose of pixie dust already. Because a decent weekend in NOLA can treat a tropical depression, (my definition), almost as well as a DCL cruise.

Tropical depression 13 will no longer be monitered by NOAA unless it regenerates. NOAA's last posting on it was at 11 am and it will be the last one unless the situation changes. And though Lee would have been the name it wasn't ever called that as it never made it to the tropical storm mode!

our weatherman said tonight there are some tropical systems to watch the next week but that is usually normal this time of the year for us to hear that here in south fla

There looks a particularly nasty storm just come off the coast of Africa worth watching the next couple of days lets keep our fingers crossed and it goes the same as tropical 13

Just checked out the mariner's map and it looks like TD 13 and the other system off of Africa have already fizzled. :goodvibes

I am so sorry for those people in Katrina's hindsight. Having lived through Charley (would have left if we had the opportunity but were told to stay put so Tampa and above could evacuate and then they said, "Oops, we were wrong, but it is too late to go anywhere!) ;) , I know the worst is yet to come for most. They will have so little to work with, and more people than you can imagine pop up to take advantage of and rip off. So sad. BUT, at least she downsized to a four, and yes, those 15-20 miles per hour less can make a HUGE difference. The trash piles will be beyond belief. Here is some extra, extra, extra heartfelt pixie dust coming your way! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: May you get some well deserved sleep!!

Another Hurricane Tracking site, which also includes Local News Broadcasts via streaming video (it's excellent) I've been watching news from New Orleans and Mobile all night/day long. Go to the Local News link, which is updated with each new hurricane.

How long does it take a storm off the coast of Africa to reach the US? We don't set sail until 9/18, but I was curious if we would already know about the depression if it was heading that way, or if it would be too early.

I think you're right. There wasn't anything about TD13 on NOAA when I last checked an hour ago--I think it spun out. Thank goodness!!!

Subscribing...

leaving the UK for Orlando in 8 days, due to cruise in 2 weeks. Looks like I could be in for a repeat of last year's 'disaster' (4 days delayed in the UK, lost a big chunk of our trip)

I'm sure the downgrade from a 5 to a 4 before landfall must have made SOME difference, but the aftermath in the crescent city sure doesn't look like the pixie dust delivery worked this time after all. And up here in ATL I still ended up with a tree falling onto my house--third one in 30 months. So much for living inland.

As for the rest of the Hurricane season, I've got my new portable 6250 watt Coleman portable generator, and also plan to change next year's 10/14/06 double dip to something in early '07 when the dates are released--not going to try to get lucky cruising during Hurricane season after all. Score it Mother Nature 1, Logan's Nerve 0.
