Not trying to argue here but what does Disney making money from Disney+ have to do with the parks? It is a different Disney division with it's own budget.

They're all under the same umbrella. When earnings are announced, they are for The Walt Disney Company. Earnings for The Walt Disney Company were outstanding during Covid.

As an example, where did Disney get the money to START Disney+? They got it from the profits of other divisions.

I KNOW!!! Not only could they have been doing construction, it could have gone way faster since their were no guests anywhere. Moreover, this was Florida where they were closed for like 3 days. Disney was making money hand over fist during Covid due to Disney+. The stoppage in construction was simply to save money they didn't need to be saving.

In hindsight, yes they could have. Things were very bleak in March/April of 2020 though and companies had to prepare for survival.

Keep in mind that WDW has only closed a handful of times in it's 50 year history. The Covid closures were longer than all previous closures combined. There was no game plan for this and the quickest/easiest thing to do is to cut all discretionary spending.

True. Very true. But I think we can agree they could have split the difference here- maybe restarted construction a few months earlier than they did.

Okay, but parks didn't need to be "kept afloat". Yes, they were getting zero revenue, but they had plenty of cash on hand.

I am planning to go back in the fall of next year 2022 ( early November) and I am hoping both Tron and the new Guardians of the Galaxy rides will be open by then.

I don't know. I've heard an awful lot about price increases in the parks because ESPN was doing so poorly.

I expect the opening of Tron, Guardians, and Star Wars resort will all be spaced out during the 18 months of the 50th celebration.

I could see them holding Guardians for EP 40th Anni in Oct 2022. Surely should be ready by then, they still have over a year.

I have seen Fall 2022 as opening timeframe for Tron and Spring 2023 for Guardians of the Galaxy.

Six months from now is highly unlikely. Slowdowns and stoppages on Tron construction simply add up to more than six more months of work. They'd literally have to pause other projects and make Tron construction an "all hands on deck" project. I just don't see that happening. Where Disney should really feel shame is in the fact that the Walt Disney World Railroad (which will run under the Tron walkway) won't be running by the start of the 50th in October.

Guardians updated to officially opening in 2022. James Gunn (the director of the Guardians movies) tweeted out they are working on the film portions so the 2022 seems fairly rock solid. As far as I know, no updates on Tron apart from construction is ongoing and they are ready to do envelope testing. This is usually in the later stages of construction and is a safety test to ensure passengers are not at risk of losing limbs while riding. Still seems like a lot of work to do with the railroad though. My guess is later 2022 if they can get Guardians off the ground in early 2022, or vice versa. I don't see them opening within 6 months of each other so that they can draw out demand.

My prediction based off nothing except Guardians being confirmed in 2022. Guardians mid-2022, Tron late 2022, maaaybe very early 2023.
