Does anyone else remember an actual live, walk-around troll character in Epcot? I could swear that we saw a troll character back in the early days of Epcot, but I can't find any photos, mention of it.

Anyone??

:earsboy:

Hmmm....we seem to see trolls everywhere in Epcot...not just in Norway....

OH, WAIT! You mean a TROLL troll! Hee. (I was going to say a troll wearing a costume, but then I'd get 100 flames of, "What's a costume???")

I honestly don't know, but I'm curious to see if anyone remembers and more importantly, has a picture. :)

Nope ... it was just after Norway pavilion opened, back in the "there are no Characters at Epcot" days.

They had a walk-around costumed troll character who did meet & greets. Not sure if it was a test or a special event type character or what. But I remember my little sis (maybe 3 at the time) being scared of him.

In all the years I went with my family when I was younger I only remember my dad getting his picture taken with the troll statue in the store...every year...same pose. Maybe it was a special character or test. I would have loved that when I was little (my favorite movie was Troll when I was really little...lol) but I imagine it would have scared a lot of kids.

I have photos of my grandma with him. It's one of my favorites since her family came from Norway. I will post.

This is a Troll female I got hitched to while there in 1997.

I believe that the Troll's name is Krampus. When we visit around Christmastime and each country promotes its particular Christmas stories, Krampus is the Troll icon in Norway.

And we have a winner! Thank you daannzzz!! (And everyone else, but the picture is indeed worth a thousand words!)

You are welcome.
It is funny that 1997 is the only time I ever saw them!

i recall there being a wooden troll statute about 6ftish tall inside the Norway shop if thats any help. :goodvibes

I remember the trolls too. There was a male and female. We have pictures of them but unfortunately that was so long ago that none of them are on my computer or a CD. I think it was the first trip that we took our kids on back in 1997.
