Now that we have threads about the castle, the hat, the tree, and ball...what is the generic name that imagineers use for the big focal point element in a park?
Per The Imagineering Field Guide To The Magic Kingdom (good little book, btw), the term was coined by Walt himself. The book also offers a slightly broader definition: "A visual element that could be used to draw people into and around a space. A weenie is big enough to be seen from a distance and interesting enough to make you want to take a closer look." Cindy's castle is certainly a "weenie" in MK, but so are Astro Orbiter and Splash Mountain.I'm not sure where the term comes from, but they call them weenies.
It's not an attraction, so that rules out my first guess: Pop Century! Can anyone guess what former attraction they are referring to when they say "The Mistake by the Lake"?
I thought about that too... but it was a success, not a failure. It was the first themed "water park" in the US whose popularity only faded when it's two bigger offspring were opened.so I will now switch to River Country
