DH has an opportunity to go to London this summer for work and wants me to come with him. We have never traveled without the kids before. They will be 16 and 14 and we have family nearby that they could stay with. They would be involved in their summer activites so they would only need a ride in the morning and in the evening. I would love to go but the mommy in me is going through the "what if this happens" stage! :scared: So do you travel without kids and am I normal for having these thoughts?

we just went away for 2 nights without the kids
they are 7 and 3
it was hard but also nice
we dont go out to dinner or to the movies
we dont have a sitter
so this was a big deal for us

I would go and have fun !

My DS12 has been with us on all our trips and would be highly offended if we left him home. However, he's a spoiled only who thinks the world revolves around him. :rotfl:

However, when I was a teenager, my parents went on several trips without us. They went to Czechoslovakia to see my mother's family and as kids we had no interest in it, and they said the food and accommodations were terrible. My grandmother stayed with the 3 of us, and the only one that missed them was the cat. They stayed for 3 weeks each time.

In your situation, I guess it depends on how your kids feel. Good luck with the decision. I would go.

GO! Your kids will be fine. And if they're not, you can come home. What a great opportunity to spend some time with your DH!

My kids area only 5 and 2 and I have travelled without them many times already. It will be fine.

.

The oldest has no interest in going, so it probably is best he doesn't! DD would love to go (also thinks the world revolves around her) but I think the time frame isn't right. She will be at a day camp and that is more important to her.

Let's see...London in summer with DH without kids. Ummm....no brainer for me.:lmao:

Can you bring the kids? London is one my list of something to do with the whole family.

Either way...go go go go!!!

We make it a point to go away without kids at least twice a year. The kids have survived just fine and mom and dad are happy campers when we come home! I say go and have a great time!
