Will a "full size" tripod fit in one of the lockers in the front of the parks? I WILL master this fireworks shot yet...

get yourself a monopod. after practice with positioning to keep it steady you can take even time lapse photography. i can even take my monopod places in manhattan, ny where tripods are not allowed. setup is so fast you have better chances at getting some shots. a bogen 4 section mono is roughly $40.00. treat yourself to a bogen pistol grip head. :rotfl:

I carry a small 8in tripod for my Camcord it works great in the park of the shows and stuff just prop it on a wall or trash can.But the nice thing is it has a strap that when you flod it up it becomes an angle or V shape and you can strap it to a pole .

It is allowed, you just need a permit. It can be obtained at City Hall (?) and it is free of charge.

I have the very same thing. Works great, however, I have upgraded to DSLR, not sure it will hold it. Hate for it to fall off due to weight.

To clarify...

My current tripod is 23 1/4" in length.

I have tried using the 8" mini tripods but I was disappointed with the results & the camera did tip over once.

I am planning on using a remote for the shutter so I don't think the monopod will work.

Thanks for the input.

It will fit. My tripod is a Manfrotto 290. Including the head it's about 26" and it fits the lockers (unless they've changed locker size since my last trip in November '05)

Kelly,

Thanks for the info, I am heading down in a couple weeks and my Manfrotto folds to about 20". I had considered either hauling it all day or running back to the room before the fireworks. I had not even considered the lockers until now...and it should fit as well.

Mike

I personally hauled it all day long for the first 10 days (too cheap to rent a locker), but after that... yeah I was in dire need of a locker.

kelly, i am a pro photog. i know where permits are necessary and where to get them. i was just explaining how well a monopod blends in and how easily it travels. i have used them taking street shots where i didn't expect to shoot and didn't have a permit. when you take shooters with new cameras add a new tripods the immediate concern will be pointing and shooting not where tripod legs are.

I know they are no replacement for the full size but these work great I have two that I carry in my camera bag.
