can any of you multiples parents assure me that my runabout will roll right into the monorail without having to take off the handle or one seat? i know it'll fit, width-wise, but i'm now obsessing over the idea that it might be too long (as i'll have to roll it in, but then angle it a bit due to the bar/divider panel that is in the middle of the monorail cars. )...i had decided that the poly is THE way to go on this very pricey trip so we can avoid many of the travel hassles we experienced last time with 3 single strollers and the dw buses. now i'm worried that my planning is flawed because there is a chance our giant stroller won't fit!!!

thanks for the help!

thanks!

Can you measure the total depth of your stroller? Even if no one knows the depth of a monorail car, I bet that someone going down there soon would sneak you a measurement!

Not sure about tripple, sorry, but our double SBS stroller (Peg Pergo Aira Twin) was not able to fit on the monorail with out folding it down. I think it would of fit in the handicap car, but it was allready taken up by someone who actually needed it so we folded it down. Our friends Garco Duo Gilde did fit. (along with 20 cheerleaders who pilled in after us, they just kept coming :earseek: and they they had the nerve to cheer when WE left. Give me a break!)

oooh! good idea. i think there are a number of monorail fans that visit on the main board, perhaps i can post the size and someone can help!

thanks!

"sbs" is side by side, right? our runabout has the 3 seats front to back, so i'm hoping that will help, but it is VERY helpful to know that there is a handicap accessible car--thanks!

as for the cheering, perhaps they were just SO impressed with your ability to handle the kids that they had to cheer (at least, that is what i like to tell myself when stuff like that happens to me!!)

thanks!

(i see you're from R.O.....i grew up in Farm. Hls....)

I really think it would fit. We always got on the handicap car (I think there is more than 1 handicap car per train) with our double side by side and I think all the cars are wide enough for you to fit your triple.

I think you will LOVE the Poly! Have you considered concierge? I bet you'ld love the convenience with your 3 young ones! We can't justify the extra $100/night on food savings but it is worth the $$$ for convenience! My kids (5 1/2, 3 3/4 and 21 months on our last trip) all LOVE the lounge and never wanted to eat anywhere else. We loved the all day access to snacks, fruit, juice, milk and soda.

I'm glad to hear you love your runabout. I found that thing a pain to use. I believe it will fit though in the handicap car. You are a brave girl to trek that thing to the world. I think the thing i hated most is the non turning front wheel of it. Not to mention to get it in my van we had to take the front wheel off. What a pain. I much prefer the double/single. Now that mine are older we just rent a stroller in the parks and no worries. Bless you we took our ggg's at 2 for there b-day i hope you have a wonderful trip we sure did. It was a blast. If you have time you should look into the badges of honor we got those for the girls and they still wear them every trip.

We loved our triple runabout. We never had a 'problem' getting on the monorail. It's easier to put on if you are able to use one of the 'handicap' cars - but it fits on the other ones, too.

Also, people are curious enough about them that they tend to give you more space. Which was sooo nice!
We took the front seat off ours and actually used it as a double.

And - the basket on the bottom is the same size as a soft-sided cooler. We used it for baby bottles and about 10 sodas. (Sodas first then packing the bottles in the spaces inbetween and on top.) The vendors will also give you ice for the cooler. Customer relations will tell you that it's good for the little coolers - if the vendors start to question it, just tell them that. They need to question you, though, since the ice they use isn't meant for consumption.

If you have the canopy and side panels - they're a MUST. If you don't have them, we'd recommend calling runabout and ordering them. The business is family owned/operated and they are very nice to deal with.

Another nice thing is parking the stroller - no, it's finding the stroller. We used ours 3 years in a row and last year we brought a double for a friend. It's always easy to find in the crowd. :)

We put our stroller on a carrrier on the back of the vehicle and the parking attendants always let us park near the front since the stroller can't be folded up for the tram. They could see it back there - they'd often say there was no parking up front but we could try - and we always found an empty spot.

asktriplets,
There's a poster over on the Transportation board called Chip 'n Dale Express who knows a great deal about Disney busses and the monorail (he works for Disney). Perhaps if you let him know the measurements of the stroller he'd be able to tell you if your stroller would fit. TRIPLETS!!!! That's so sweet. Congrats! :goodvibes

Grand Canyon,
I saw your signature pic of your beautiful new baby girl. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :cloud9: She's so sweet. 2 boys and then a girl? Same as me! Your boys will adore her and protect her I'm sure! My little girl is 12 months old and my boys are *still* in awe of her :) Anyway just wanted to say congrats. I always think it's amazing when anyone has a brand new little baby, even someone I don't know on the Disboards :) Well done and enjoy your precious girl!!!

well, actually, i'm not sure i'll love it while i'm there! i'm really having second thoughts about whether this will be our best option...it is SO much easier to move around than my peg stroller (which i really liked until they all hit about 30 lbs!), but i know it will be a production wherever we go (either because i'll have to take on/off the handle and front seat to get it in the back of the van when we drive into the parks, or because it is such an attention getter!). plus, i don't have a hitch, and i haven't even started planning on how we're going to pack around it on the 16 hr. drive down!!! oh well, planning is half the fun, right?

just in case, we're bringing our 3 single umbrella strollers with the connectors so we have the option of a single and double.... thanks for your thoughts!

what are badges of honor?

thank you! thank you! thank you! i knew someone here must have tried it!

nice to know that people gave you more space when they saw you coming...usually, it is the opposite! (i am a little concerned about drawing more attention to ourselves with the runabout ...we seemed to blend in pretty well with the crowds with our 3 single strollers in november) .

we don't have a basket on the bottom, nor do we have the side panels, so thank you for reminding me that i need to get my act together and order them or figure out how to make them!

did you ever have any concern about leaving the stroller around? when we go on an outing now, i take a stroller or wagon ---just in case--, but the kids usually walk most of the time. i imagine, for example, that we'll be able to leave the stroller in fantasyland stroller parking for a few hours while we ride all of the rides there. it IS a rather conspicuous item, so i don't imagine that anyone will want to take off with it, but did you ever worry? we had talked about bringing a bike lock and locking the front wheel and a seat together (that way, it can still easily be moved by CMs, but couldn't be strolled off)...

thanks for your thoughts!

did you ever have any concern about leaving the stroller around? No, not a bit!

We found that the CM took good care of it.

The basket and side panels are a must

We used a generic carrier that plugs into the receiver hitch and a few bungie cords. The carrier is about $100
