Has anyone ever triple towed through florida. Florida law considers 1 truck and 2 trailers a triple tow. If so did you have any problems. I am wanting to haul 2 golf carts to FW and the only way is if I pull a trailer behind my 5er.

Bring me your swivelwheel lol and I'll give you my 94 Club Car.

I've seen all sorts comments from people on various boards that have said that they have done this without issues. FL isn't the only state on the way to the fort that doesn't allow triple towing. I think Mississippi and Alabama also do not allow triple tows. But as stated above, I've seen plenty of comments from people that say they do it all the time.

I am kind of torn between getting a Swivel Wheel type thing for my cart, or just pulling a trailer and taking my chances. I've actually been considering building my own swivel wheel type thing, something more along the lines of the Idaho Tote to reduce the tongue weight on the back of the fiver.

I've seen plenty of 5ers pulling boats in Florida, so a small trailer with a golf cart should not be a problem.

I am looking at buying another yamaha gas golf cart for my parents to use at FW. But I dont know how to get it there. :confused3 Donnie I will let you know if I decide to get rid of my SW. I thought you where going to start triple towing.

You know, because of a couple of threads I saw on here about triple towing, I was watching going through Fl, and I saw TONS of triples. I saw a p/u with a full sized camper, towing about a 30' TT, towing a boat.

I'm actually selling my cart and my 5'er can haul dd and mines 4 wheelers. If anybody wants to join us they need to worry bout themselves lol. Did you see the 2005 Yammies I was talking about in St Auggie? The guy wants 3,600 a piece but I'm trying to get em for 3k even. If it happens I'll buy a fold up back footrest seat and haul it in the 5'er. Go on ebay and type in yamaha gas golf and you'll see em. Gatortracks I think is the seller. Maybe if u want one he might go 3 a piece. I stopped in and personally looked at em. They're like brand new.

If the only thing they could do to you was write you a ticket ok no big deal. But I had read that they would make you separate and leave one on the side of the road.

I found a 02 yahama gas for $1500 with a 6" lift needs some work but runs good. Plus its only 45 miles from my house.

I've heard the same. If I'm in Florida no problem because I know people from here to Orlando and Tampa that I could get a hand from. With the price of fuel we've decided to rent cabins when we go to the 4 wheeling places in GA and TN. If I had the extra cash I'd get one of those Scorpions or the like because I like my own bed but the bathrooms in those are too small for my fat butt so I'd have to use the cs anyway. I quit whining about fuel because you can't do anything about it. We're just gonna stay closer to home and try to do longer stays at FW this year.

Yeah I know the price of diesel drives me nuts but you cant change it so oh well. If you ever look on e-bay they have a 32' pop up that could haul 2 golf carts. But the bathroom sucks compared to my 5er. If I triple tow and they make me separate I figured I could just go rent a truck and let my wife tow the golf cart with it.

Now there's an idea. My problem is DD can't drive yet.:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I guess I better start looking for a new Miss Stacktester. I've avoided it too long lol. If you did get stopped I'd use the truck til you got to a place where you could turn it in and hook back up to your 5'er. You know they got a 2 place swivelwheel now. You could sell me your's and buy the new one.

I haven't seen the double model yet I will have to check it out. So how do I get my SW to you in Florida :confused3

Just lke anything or anywhere else, it depends on who sees you and what kind of a day they are having. I myself wouldn't chance it but that's just me. I asked a Florida Dept. of Transportation Motor Carier Compliance officer
( the police with FDOT on the car ) about this when we bought our 5er and basically they can make you unhook your second trailer and give you a ticket. You may never get questioned, but thats a risk I wasn't willing to take.

There was a very informative thread about this a couple of months back...Im not sure of the members name...but he was a professional trucker, and IIRC...he said that TRIPLE TOWING meant actually pulling 3 towables behind a tow vehicle. Something to the effect of towing a TT WITH a utility trailer or a boat trailer behind it is NOT illegal in ANY state. I have seen US MAIL Rigs pulling 2 trailers across the country all my life. New Vehicle Carriers are usually two as well. Apparently this isnt triple towing, its double towing and legal in all states. This is not fact, just what I remember from reading a thread a couple of months ago here on the dis.
Donnie,...I think you made some comments on that thread, Tungpo as well.

The problem is not only with the rule but also with interpretation. I have been told that sometimes you won't get pulled because the Officer is not versed enough in the rules for this. Some will say there are two trailers so it is double towing. Someone else might say it is 3 vehicles linked together. This would give the triple ( doesn't refer to trailers, only to the total vehicles )so the Tow Vehicle would be included. I believe that the Truck Driver in the other thread was using trucking as an example ( Tractor pulling 2 or more trailers ) . I don't believe that I have seen this when the trailers didn't have front and rear axles. This could be loophole ( front and rear axles ) where "triple towing" with tractor trailers is allowed. Let's also not forget the small fact that I have no experience, knowledge, or idea about any of this. I am only spewing out information that is one meaningless but also completly unsubstanciated. Sorry for the minute or two of your lives that I used up and you'll never get back.:lmao:

Oh....and, I really aint all that funny or witty(but thanks for saying so), I just have a knack for pointing out the obvious. Life is full of funny...ya just have to find the punchlines

It scares me:scared: the second part of the quote is something you said on another thread and that's what Lisa always says about me.

So, does anyone have any first hand knowledge of the triple tow law as it relates to RVs.:thumbsup2
