Triple D's February Challenge - The Wait is Finally Over!!

Wow! I'm thrilled with all the chitchat going on. :goodvibes It's after 1am and I'm doing a little catch up. We arrived home tonight from a wonderful trip to visit our Son, DIL and 5 beautiful grandchildren in Southern California and then on to Vegas for a couple of days of r&r. :rotfl: Now it's time to get back to real life; catch up on work and get back on my regular routine of workouts.
I love the camraderie and sharing that is developing in our team! It's a wonderful to be part of such a fun group!

Bryan not burned out just been real busy. Great to see everyone doing so well. Another movie game we play at work is you name two actors in a movie. At lest one has to be a Star thats known and see who can get the movie first.

Kira Dear family will be going to Philly over sping break. You have any recomandations on best Cheesesteaks or other eateries. We will be staying downtown for three day visiting the historic sites.

Great news I think I have dear wife talked into WDW 1/2 marathon weekend. I told her we would run the 5k together on Friday and I'll run the Half on Saturday.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:.

Liz
Great to hear your doing better just take it slow.

Have fun out there and be safe. Rich

Good morning, triple Ds, and TGIF! Hope everyone is doing well as we approach the end of week 2.

Rich: Good news on persuading your wife! Got any pointers to share with the class? I am trying to convince my husband that we *need* to do either RFTT or ToT next fall...

SamSam: Welcome back to reality. So, did you get lucky in Vegas?

Bryan: Nope, not getting burned out here. More like blown away -- those gusts of winds that came through here yesterday took down part of a tree and my cable with it for a while!:scared1: Good to see you managed to keep the movie quotes going without my input, but I need to point out there is still one outstanding -- any guesses on my Miami quote? And good luck on your race this weekend. Run, Bryan, run!:cheer2:

Betsy: The spreadsheet looks great but can I request I be moved so that my pittance of miles/minutes does not come right after Rich? :lmao: seriously, at first glance I thought you must have left out a decimal point from his numbers or something. I am going to get a complex following those stats... Or maybe it was my stats ytoyou were referencing when you said "I know its not all pretty"? ;) Maybe Bryan could calculate the decimals on my behalf going forward?

Oh, and btw, since you got the vacation quote, i think you are up - your turn to post a movie quote.

Deb: I got your sugar right here...

Tracy and Carrie: :wave2:

Kira: See, I slowed down posting just for you! But now that you've caught up . . .I'm back to babbling away. Which is more than I can say for my running --I'm having a bit of a motivation problem and can't quite find my groove this week. I think I need to sign up for a race to get me back in training mode.

Missy: Welcome to your dh. Love his handle, Lugnut! :rotfl:

Mike: Great job on the hills! :worship:

Kim: :wave2:

Augie: We have definitely been at some of the same shows, I'm sure! Very cool.

Ronda: I'm a C25k fan, too. It's a great program! Keep up the good work.

Hope everyone is having a good one, and avoiding walking under ladders and such on this Friday the 13th. I am apparently paying the price for owning a black kitten who regularly walks across my path, as well as all over me -- I just got an adverse decision from a federal judge in Florida dismissing this $2 million+ case I have spent 4 or 5 years of my life on. I actually took it on as a favor for a friend's mother and am mostly feeling despondent because i truly believe it is a gross miscarriage of justice. Oh, well, thats how it goes I guess. It must be 5 o'clock somewhere, right? Or maybe I'll cut out and work off some of my aggravation on the treadmill....

Thanks Bryan and Erica, those hills made my butt and calves hurt for 2 days - much better now. On Wednesday I went for a nice easy 6.5 mile run and it took about 3 miles before I felt like MY legs were running with me - then I turned up the heat and ran at least 1 minute per mile (around 7:20 mpm pace)faster than I wanted to; but I did finish. Yesterday, I took a day off from running and just hit the weights for an hour and walked a mile to loosen things up. Hope everyone has a great day today, will post again tonight after I put in some miles.

Great training,

Mike "GG" B

Hi Gang...I'll catch up more later. I'm off to WDW!!!

Good job everyone!

And...Tricia (TNT'sParty) PR'd a 5K last week...on the race boards! yay!
Don't forget to count those miles double when you post your totals, Tricia!

I will not have my laptop at WDW...will watch for the posts, though, and will have the spreadsheet updated Tuesday night or Wed. morning, if that's ok with y'all.

See ya soon!

Good Afternoon 3D's! Hope you are all enjoying the great day we have here.. I left work early today as I have to get ready for a scout campout this weekend, so as I do not anticipate any hours for tomorow I want to post my hours for the week. All biking, I have 138 miles and 4 hours 15 minutes. (4.25 in the decimal system)

Erica, looking forward to the next show at Irving Plaze. And I hope they play at All Good this year.

Have a great weekend, and Happy Valentine's Day to all!

Augie

Hey Gang!! Didn't actually mean that we were "burned out". It was really just a joke. (I do have a weird sense of humor at times.) Trust me. I know how it is to be very busy. The only reason I have had a little time this week is because I have been in taper mode so I have been able to get home a little earlier each night.

Speaking of which, today was the day that I went and picked up my race packet. They had a nice expo that was about 1/3 the size of Disney's. Still had a lot of the same stuff though but they were giving away free gloves to be able to keep our hands warm. That was one thing that saved me was the gloves that I received from Anne (Mahare). I hate to say that I didn't even know who she was but I will never forget her now. She is one special lady!!

Augie I knew you would have some big numbers this week. That's good too because you are helping make up for my slack. Great job on all of the bike miles and I hope you have fun on your Boy Scout trip.

Bets I am sooo jealous!!! I want to go to WDW too!! (can't we just tell them that it is my birthday???;) ) I hope you have a great time while you are there.

Erica Et tu, Brute? Take thy beak from within my heart. (I believe that second quote is correct. It has been a while since I have seen that movie.) It's ok. I have always been the butt of the jokes. No worries. Sorry about the ruling though. No wonder you would be feeling a bit dispondant. That's a lot of money!!

Rich If nothing else, I guess I will see you in WDW early next year!! We are going to have an AWESOME Triple D reunion meet. Just something else to look forward too.:cool1:

For Me After picking up my packet tonight, I went to the store to get some Thera-Flu. After one cup, I am feeling much better already. My throat is not near as sore as it has been. I still have a pretty good bass voice right now so it would be a great time for me to join a quartet. :rotfl2: (People have a hard enough time understanding me when I talk, let alone sing!!) Also, I found out that the race is going to be televised locally so "Mom! I'm gonna be on the tv!" Yep. Me and Gilligan on the same small screen. Tell me that isn't scary!! (Now, I have to run. Too much pride to walk by the cameras.) Tomorrow, is going to be a lot of rest and sleep to try to make sure that I am feeling my best and beat this cold, if possible. Then, early Sunday morning, I have to head out. Go to work Sunday afternoon and then we have a meeting that night. Which means I am going to have a very looong day that day. No rest for the weary.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!!
Bryan:yay: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Just a quickie to say Happy Valentine's Day to all  and a special good luck/feel better to Bryan! Hope the theraflu does the trickand you get some rest before the race (cause you sure won't be getting it after, huh?).

BBL with weekly totals. Hope everyone is having a good one.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

Bryan good luck tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing how you did.

My totals for the week are well weak. I had the flu the first half of the week and it took a couple of days to get my legs back. I did 6 miles tonight, pretty excited about that and I feel really good. So for the whole week I have a whopping 10 miles in 148 minutes. I can and will do better.

Have a great weekend

Hi, everyone! Hope y'all had a good Valentine's Day, and a great weekend.
Just wanted to check in and post our totals for the week:
Me-7.50 miles-2 hours of running/walking
Lugnut (Mike)-7.50 miles-2.50 hours of running/walking

Again, our totals seem very small in comparison to everyone else's, but I guess that's part of being a beginner. We were only in the gym 3 days last week, and I hope to improve on that this week.

Have a great week everyone!:)

Erica Don't worry about me I'm just a little nuts. DW thinks I'm insane and its paranoia from always being overweight.

Bryan Hope your race went well. Can't wit to here your report.

Betsy Very jealous your at WDW lucky you

Miles and hours for Feb 8-14th

Running
52.5 miles
9.25 hours

Biking

8.50 hours

PS looking forward to a Triple D'S meet at 2010 Marathon weekend. I going to try and make Ressie today before DW changes her Mind.:lmao: :lmao:

Erica Don't worry about me I'm just a little nuts.:

A little? :lmao: Seriously, though, no worries here. I was just goofing on you -- the only one I am trying to best around here is myself. However, my "sub-goal" is to at least keep my numbers up enough so that I am not less than 10% of your numbers.

Speaking of which, here are my totals for the last week:

25.4 miles, 4.2 hours.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend, and that Bryan had a great race!:yay:

Hi everyone, Hope you all had a fun Valentine's Day. :goodvibes

I was out of town most of the week and unable to get in the miles/hours that I would have like to. This next week I should do better.

Miles 8 - 120 minutes

Hello everyone, hope everyone had a great weekend. And that it continues, tomorrow is a holiday for many. (me included!)

Bryan, hope you had a great race!

Looking over the past posts, I made a mistake on my reporting. The mileage is ok, but the time is a little off, it should be 8.5 hours. Which leads to the question, how accurate do you want the times? I do not time my commutes much anymore, and figure on 1.5 hours per day, as that is pretty much my average.

Have a good week!

Hi all. I've been wandering all over the WISH boards. So much terrific support here. It has been a pretty good week. I finished C25K week 2 and started week three today. It's quite a jump. I finished the runs. It's something I would not have believed a month ago. I coughed for about an hour afterwards. It has stopped, but my lungs still feel funny. Google tells me it will get better as I exercise more or I'm going to die.

The weather is sunny, but has stubbornly stayed seasonally cold this weekend.

Feb 8-14, 5.8 hours, 30.75 miles

We have tomorrow off and I can't decide which end of my to-do list to start with. Hope everyone has a great week!

Bryan,

Just a quick pop in to check how your race went. Hope you felt better and that the race rocked foryou.

Sorry gang, I have been a horrible teammate. Life just really busy right now.

23 miles sorry I am not sure on minutes. I lost the paper I was keeping track of....but being a walker I am about 15 mins per mile so I can estimate at about 360 mins. Wow no wonder I have no time to post. Can that be right? I am sure about the miles however.

Hope you are all doing great.
