Trip With the Terrible (Yes, Terrible) Twos and Teens

So, we arrive in Norway for our princess dining experience. Our own little princess, Minnie Mouse, is excited about this meal. We take her into the restroom to change her into her Snow White costume. They call our name and we wait in a line to take our picture with Princess Aurora before being seated.

When it is our turn, Minnie runs away from us and into the waiting arms of Princess Aurora. She takes her picture with her and visits with her, then we get a picture of all the girls and Aurora before the hostess takes us to our table.

When we get to our table, Minnie prompty looks at me and says, "Mama.....this dress hot. This dress itchy!" and starts stripping down right there in the middle of Akershus. So, since she is in a corner and very fast (she already has the dress off!) I just quickly put on her tshirt and shorts. If you saw the naked 2 year old in Akershus, yes, that was us. Classy.

Anyway, my husband is a self-proclaimed meatatarian. He eats no vegetables and nothing, absolutely nothing, that is green. So, I knew going into this that Akershus might be dicey.

The cold bar was fine, with the highlight being when Jaybird accidently ate some goat cheese. ;) Teehee. Tinkerbell liked the breads and cheeses, and I can't remember what Cindy dabbled in. I think we all got the pasta for our main course, except for Tink, who ordered children's ravioli. She wasn't feeling too adventurous.

Ariel stopped by first. She is Minnie's favorite princess, but Minnie froze when she came by and just hugged her silently. Minnie is a BIG talker, but I guess no words would come. Of course, they came after Ariel left, when she cried and said, "But I wanted to tell Ariel that I have a dinglehopper, too."

The tears dried after the other princesses came by, and she didn't miss her opportunity to tell Belle, "Beast is not bad! Gaston is! Gaston is bad!" She knows this so well because she used to be afraid of the Beast and so that was our mantra. ;) Belle replied that Gaston was not bad, so much, but that he still asks her to marry him!

Now, Jaybird and I thought Gaston suffered an untimely passing at the end of BATB, but maybe we were wrong? Can't remember. Regardless, it was a fun time.

If you have older children, you do have to be a bit.........hmm, aggresive isn't the word, but I did ask the characters nicely to please stop by Tink and Cindy to take pictures too. At 13, Tink didn't want to take pictures with every Princess, but 18 year old Cindy SO did, but didn't want to say so. They were all very nice about it, and it certainly isn't a complaint, but the majority of the attention did go to little Minnie, who is 2. We did get our fill of pictures, though, and were happy with the lunch.

The food was just okay. We're not super sophisticated diners. The desserts, however, were DIVINE! Mmmmmmm. Yummy. We all enjoyed them very much!

After breakfast, we headed back to The Land to ride Soarin'.

We used our fp and a babyswitch pass. Jaybird, Tink, and Cindy went to ride, while Minnie and I waited for them near the exit. Minnie took this opportunity to run around and let off some steam. She did meet a friend while we were waiting and enjoyed playing with her very much. I enjoyed visiting with the Mom. Minnie's little friend left before we did, and she was sad to see her go. She tried to play with another little kid, but he wasn't so interested and she just couldn't understand that. :confused3 So, she played by herself until the crew came out.

When they came out, Tink decided she wanted to go back to The Living Seas to see some sharks instead of ride Soarin' again (she has totally, totally, lost her mind, but whatever.) So, Jaybird, Tink and Minnie head back to The Land. Now, the line for Nemo is out the door and over an hour long. Tinkerbell gracefull sticks her foot in her mouth when she says, "Dad, look at the line for Nemo! It's ginormous!" prompting Minnie to say, "Nemo!?!?! I want to do NEmo AGAIN!" :headache: D'Oh!

Meanwhile, Cindy and I are in line for Soarin! She has never been with us on our Cali trips, so this was a first. We had a grand time. I love this ride so much. I have to say, it does seem a little awkward that they didn't change the film at all. Would have been nice for the ending to be over WDW instead of DL, but who cares.

We met up with the crew at The Land and decide to head out. We stop at Innoventions to get our free Disney Visa picture. It was great! We had Minnie, Mickey, and Goofy in a room all by ourselves! We did have to wait about 10 minutes, but who's going to complain about that on Easter weekend! Minnie was in heaven (and I think Cindy and Tink were too, but too cool to act like it.) We got great pictures and then moved on to check out Innoventions.

Minnie was almost potty trained before our trip, but regressed the week before when she came down with a bladder infection. We put her in pullups for the parks and decided to deal with it when we came home (and she is doing great now).

Anyway, we were in Innoventions and the big girls decided to go check something out. Minnie was playing in some big blow up of a molecule with some other kids, so Jaybird and I stayed there to watch her. All of a sudden, I do not see her anymore. I see she is hiding behind a molecule.

"Come on, Minnie," I say. "Can't," she replies, loudly. "I'm POOPING!" Nice. Well, there went the other kids in the molecule. She cleared them out in three seconds.

"Minnie," I whisper. "Come here and I will take you to the potty."

"NOOOOO!" she bellows, in what is DEFINITELY not her inside voice. "I'm POOPING RIGHT NOW!" This lovely ditty is accompanied by strategic grunts.
This, coupled with her stripping in Akershus, is making me feel pretty classy, yes sir, yes m'aam.

Hrmph.

:rotfl: :rotfl: That is great! Gotta love kids!

I'm so enjoying your trip report. I have a DD 18, a DD 11 & a DS 1. We'll be taking DS when he is 2 also. I guess I'll have to be ready for anything!

When I left you, Minnie was pooping in a molecule.

So, after that nasty business, we got her changed and cleaned up and left Innoventions. Other kids cautiously ventured back into the molecule.

We headed out and stopped at the place where you can get the Cokes from around the world. Fun! I particularly liked the red drink from Israel. Yum!

After that we headed to the World Showcase because Cindy and Tink like to buy the candy from the different countries. We went to Mexico and got a churro (yum!) and rode the little boat ride. It was fun and the line wasn't long at all.

Then we headed through the World Showcase. Minnie fell asleep in China so I bought a Diet Coke and Jaybird and I rested while the big girls went and looked around and shopped. We enjoyed our quiet time and entertained ourselves by visiting and taking video.

We finally got up when Tink came back, mad at Cindy. I don't remember their exact drama right now, but they were both mad, mad, mad. So, we headed off to meet Cindy in Japan. Minnie woke up right as we reached a play area in one of the countries, so we let her play and eventually met Cindy.

We made a leisurely walk out of the World Showcase, before stopping to pick up our picture from the VISA greet. The 3 girls went on the ride........it's escaping me now..........the big Epcot ball. Anyway, they went on that while we waited. When they were done we headed out and back "Home" to the Hyatt Grand Cypress.

I fed the baby some vienna sausages. I know, gag.......bathed her, and put her to bed while Jaybird took the girls out to Steak N'Shake. The burgers were great but he was gone forever! No worries, though, because it allowed me to get Minnie down in her crib and asleep before they came back.

OMG! I laughed out loud at this! Kids.... gotta love 'em.

Looking forward to the rest.

When I left you, Minnie was pooping in a molecule.

Ya know... that's just one of those sentences that you KNOW you'll never ever see again

Man am I glad those days are behind me... but I am thoroughly enjoying reading about your daily adventures :surfweb:

Well, I got Minnie settled down and then relaxed on the balcony of our hotel.

Jaybird and the girls came back and we ate our Steak N Shake. Yummm. I turned out the lights and went to selep cause itwas goingto be an early day at the MK the next morning!

Our alarm went off bright and early the next morning. 6:45! I realized happily that Minnie had slept through the night. Thank goodness because we so needed the rest!

We hop out of bed and head to the Magic Kingdom. We don't make it there quite for rope drop but head straight for Fantasyland. Well, Jaybird, Minnie, Cindy, and I do. Tink goes to Adventureland to secure fastpasses for Splash for later. Cindy was mad and pouty about something, it escapes me now, as these things always do. We headed to Dumbo and Tink was already back before we were done! We finished Dumbo and went to Pooh, Snow White, Peter Pan, and then Minnie's favorite, Small World! She loved the ride so much last year when we were in Disneyland, that she was really looking forward riding it again. We rode it and then headed to Crystal Palace for breakfast......

Great report!! Your DD2 is adorable and would love to see pics of the rest of you.:goodvibes I have a son that has ADHD and my youngest (turned three 3/8) already has more ADHD symptoms than him.:scared1: Makes for an interesting vacation.:thumbsup2 Looking forward to more!!

After Fantasyland, we head to the Crystal Palace for a character breakfast with Pooh and Friends! We have a bit of a wait, then we are called in. Eeyore is in the lobby, and the other characters are walking around.

Our server got a kick out of my t-shirt saying "What time is the 3:00 parade?" I got sooooooooo many comments on the shirt, all from cast members. They loved it. It really was a highlight of our trip.

When Piglet came by, he gave Tink and Cindy a hard time for eating bacon and sausage. ;) We thought that was pretty funny, and it must have made an effect on Minnie, too, because she still says, "Pig-get NOT want us to eat sausage, Mama?" Ha!

After we left breakfast we headed over to Tomorrowland and got fastpasses for Buzz Lightyear. We rode the TTA twice and went over to Carrousel of Progress. After C.O.P., we got FP for Space and then went to go use our Buz z ones. We love Buzz. Tink and Jaybird rode in front, and Minnie, Cindy, and I had our other, less competitive vehicle in the back. ;) After Buzz, we decide to head back to the hotel for a little. Minnie falls asleep in the stroller as we are leaving, of course, so Cindy takes the opportunity to buy a Disney World purse/bag from a store on Main Street. Tink immediately gets pouty. I tell her she has her money, she can go get the purse if she wants. She sullenly declines. I try to figure out WHAT  the problem is when it hits me. I told Tink NO MORE PURSES after we bought her a very expensive purse that she just had to have for her birthday, then decided a mere few months later that she didn't like it anymore because everybody at school wears Coach ones. Ha. After I realize what the problem was, I tell her it's really a bag, not a purse, and she can go ahead and get it. Crisis averted. ;)

After that, we happily head down Main Street, to the TTC, and off to our hotel for a rest!

Hey, you haven't posted for over a month now, where are you.

I was at WDW the same time you were. When we went to Epcot, I insisted on getting fast passes right away for Soarin. My dh waited and a CM told him they post Soarin for 90 right away, but it was actually a walk on.

Hope you come back and let us know how the rest of your trip went.
