Trip with NO kids?? WHAT?!!

My DH and I went to Disney one year in early Dec. and it was FABULOUS! We were able to go to shows that the kids wouldn't want to attend, and we were able to tour the lovely decorations at the resorts. We also got to eat at grown-up places that served more than chicken fingers. We had a wonderful time, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Husbands and wives need time together to recharge and enjoy each other's company. My kids go to Disney a lot, so we felt no Disney guilt!

We have been disneyland passholders until just recently when they raised the prices for about 17 years. We often went without our kids and really enjoyed ourselves. No guilt here. When the kids were real little and free we would go do the parks during the day with the kids and get a hotel reccomended babysitter and go back at night. My kids like yours have been enough to last a lifetime. I say do it and I know you will have a blast.

a few years ago we went without the kids and had a blast!!! It was an adults only trip, 8 adults ages 25-55 (my sisters their hubby's and another couple who are friends). I didn't feel guilty because my kids had been there 6 months earlier and we go to Disney just about every year so it's not like they have never been before. If the kids had never been or only had gone as babies and didn't remember the trip then I would probably would have felt guilty.

I say go and have fun!!!

I think the feelings of guilt are normal, and for me, they seemed to happen in anticipation of the trip. But once we were there, it all went away. We did things we normally can't do in DLR when the kids are there, and so the park felt very different. We went on "scary" rides, we had dinner at the delicious Napa Rose, and we were so carefree!

Since you take your kids so often, treat yourselves, and ENJOY!

The first time we went without the kids they grumble a little bit and we simply told them that Disney world was our favorite place looooong before we had kids. Why should we stop going?
Like you, my kids have been often so it's all good.
I've been without my kids and without my dh. My girlfriends and I went for a girls only trip. We couldn't think of any other place we wanted to go.

It's our family tradition, I really wouldn't want to go without DD.

Next year our kids will both be in the same age group at church and will be gone to camp for a week at the same time for the first time. DH and I have already planned a trip to WDW for the two of us and I can't wait. It will be our first trip there without the kids.

We are planning on buying annual passes at our trip in April and because of that are planning three trips with the kids for next year so I don't feel bad at all.

I say go for it and have fun!

Thank you all so much for the replies!! I think we're going to go Aug 16-21. As long as grandparents don't balk at watching the kids that is! ;-)

You will have a great time!! :goodvibes

I've done three trips without my kids and I had a blast!

Visiting Disney as adults-only is such a different experience ~ and so much fun! :)

Have you gone without your kids to Disney before??
Did you have a ton of guilt??

Dh and I were going to take the kids back to Disney in August. They wanted to go to Busch Gardens in VA in July, however it's quite a bit of money so soon after VA and I was thinking that maybe dh & I could go for 5 day's....
We have never gone more then 1 night away from the kids but I think we would have a great time, if we didn't feel bad!!

SO tell me, did you go w/out your kids and how was it??

BTW my kids have been 7 times and will likely go back in the next year or two, so it isn't like they haven't ever gone.....

Well we go about every two years. So our kids get to go regularly. When DW turned 30, we left the kids at home, and went by ourselves.

Here's the "best" part, we went during all the Halloween festivities. Which we DID feel a little guilty about. But other than MNSSHP, the kids were too young for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal AND we were really there for the Food and Wine festival.

Hey, if they go regularly, there's really no reason to feel bad! If you love disney too, why not treat yourself to a trip to Disney?

Definitly go without the kids if possible. You get to see and do things you normally wouldn't with kids in tow. Heck, I just went for 6 days without the kids or DH. I loved it!:goodvibes
