My dh and I have the wonderful opportunity to take a short vacation without our four kids (as wonderful as they are :) ! :cool1:
Since we have AP's we are going to DLR!:cheer2:
Any suggestions on things to do that you would not usually do with four young kids? I did already make reservations for the Fantasmic Priority Seating. I know that the Food and Wine Festival is going on at DCA. Is there a good place to get info on this event (other than the Disney website)?
We are not big wine drinkers although my dh loves good beer.
Oh, we will be there Sunday (4/27) - Tuesday (4/29).
TIA! :)

We did a grownups only trip four years ago, and it was better than our honeymoon. We did a few things different than we would have done with kids. While we did get up early for our Early Entry day, the other days we slept in and enjoyed each other. Since we were not trying to get on the rides with the worst lines....such as Dumbo and Peter Pan, we decided to get there later in the day and utelize the joys of fast pass.

We love the Blue Bayou. If you get the first seating of the day, it is a bit easier to get the front row seating for the full effect. We also fed each other ice cream and generally acted like we were dating.:thumbsup2

Since we didn't have little people who needed to get to bed early, we were able to enjoy the night life at Disney. We rode Big Thunder, watched the late showing of Fantasmic (without the long wait) and closed down the park. We enjoyed leaving the park without many other people there, it was magical. There had been a bit of rain, so everying smelled so fresh and even the pavement had a gleam of pixiedust.

We took advantage of really enjoying all the flowers, nooks, and quiet little places in the park and snuggled on a bench and really people watched. We held hands, we kissed a bit and held each other close on Pirate's and the Haunted Mansion.

Those were the best G rated days and X rated nights. Ahh, the joy of Disneyland without children is hard to quantify, but great to experience. Have a wonderful trip.

We'll be there the same time as you! Check out allears to get some pretty good info on the food and wine fest. My husband also loves beer, and is looking forward to the beer tasting seminars. He went to a coupld last year, and really enjoyed them. They are free, but last year you have to get there a bit early to get a spot. I'm not clear on how they will be handling the seminars this year, so I'm hoping somebody from the Dis will get there during the first weeks of the fest and report back. In addition to the beer seminar, they have lots of cooking deminstrations planned, where you get to ask questions of the chefs and taste their creations at the end.

Thanks for all your tips! We are really looking forward to this much needed getaway! :woohoo:
Any other tips?

I think Eeyore's Wife covered most everything. Basically take your time and enjoy each other. DH and I are going to be there for our Anniversary the end of April too, but we leave the day before you guys get there.

I really love closing down the park. DH and I rode Splash as the last ride of the evening a couple years ago and were able to practically by ourselves through the park until we got almost all the way to the hub from Critter Country. It was awesome! We walked slowly holding hands, very romantic!:lovestruc

How very cool that you are going by yourselves!! I havent had the opportunity yet, but my kids are getting older, and hopefully Grandma wont be affraid of them forever!:lmao: :lmao:

I just wanted to say that I will be there at the same time, as will some of the other ladies here... Staying at the Hojos for a ladies only trip! So if you see us, say hi!! :cool1: :cool1: Not romantic, but still fun. :lmao:

Everyone cave great advice. My family and I just got back from a 8 day spring break visit and we even found some time to drop of our DD5 and DS7 at Pinocchio's Workshop for an evening and I wished that we had some of this preplanned, it was all last minuite. OK, at the DL Hotel try out Hook's Point or SteakHouse 55 for some nice Adult Time. In Downtown Disney try the ESPN club it has some great food and "mostly" adults. If you are a Disney Resort guest ask Guest Services if they have any additional fun things. At DLH my wife and I signed up for the Pirate's of the Caribbean "treasure hunt" where they ave us a listing of 10 questions a glow in the dark light (to see stuff on the ride) and we competed against each other to see who got the questions first and right. (Example: When was POC opened? How many times in the attraction does Captain Jack appear?) My wife and I also enjoyed spending some time looking for hidden Mickey's (we bought the book) All of these things allowed us to enjoy the Disney magic while not having to rely on the rides so much (and the lines.) Of course the other things mentioned are great as well.

Don't know if you and your husband are a meat and potatoes kind of couple but my wife and I just made a solo trip to Disneyland and we really enjoyed a quiet kidless meal at Steakhouse 55. It is at the Disneyland Hotel. It is a bit expensive but it was a wonderful meal in a nice restraunt.

We also ate at the Blue Bayou over in Disneyland. Again, a nice meal in a fairly romantic restraunt.

Have a good time!
