Day 3 (April 23, 2002)-MGM and Downtown Disney
We (DH, DD, Sister-in-law, and I) arrived at MGM at like 9:45 and it seemed QUITE crowded. We had to lug that stroller onto the tram. We headed straight to RnR to get FP and then met up with the other 3 at the hat. They had gotten FPs for the TOT and they again ..werent happy with us. We had time for RnR so we waited for them at TOT. They then watched McKenzie for us while 3 of us rode RnR (we got the picture). LOVED THIS RIDE!!!
They then wanted to leave to go shopping UNBELIEVBLE!!! Why in the world would you come all the way down here just to shop??? They did this the whole time. Most of the time they shopped at Wal-Mart!!!!
We (DH, DD, and I) stayed. They were not happy with us, but we had a good time. We got FPs for Little Mermaid and then waited for Playhouse Disney. Long, EXCRUCIATING wait, but McKenzie did have fun.
We had time so we ate at the Brown Derby (since it was so close). The experience was fine but nothing special. We probably wont go back. We hurried to the Little Mermaid. Then we strolled towards BackLot Tour but it was pretty crowded. We walked right into the Muppets. My daughter fell asleep. We took the long stressful trek back to the car.
I was hoping to go back to MGM for the night and see so many things that I had missed, but we never did make it back. I still havent been on the Great Movie Ride yet. Hope it doesnt go away till I get back.
We swam and rested and then my husband suggested that we join his 2 sisters for a night at Pleasure Island. It was something that I wanted to do sometime in the trip so I reluctantly agreed. I tried to make a PS for Fultons Crab House but they didnt have an opening until 9, so I decided to go to the Marketplace and be spontaneous about dinner (BIG MISTAKE).
We went to Cap-N-Jacks. They said 25 min. wait. I was fine with that since I could shop some (AND I DID YEAH). We came back and checked in but the wait ended up being more like 1 ½ hours. WE WILL NEVER BE BACK!!! The service was HORRENDOUS!!! The food was OK, even though the atmosphere was nice.
We walked to Pleasure Island. We had been here atleast twice on every trip before. We really loved the country bar. We enjoyed watching them line dance. The people were always so nice. I knew that it was gone and I expected to not have as much fun as usual before going but when we did get there and we couldnt find anything to do .I was so disappointed.
We did try Waves, and the Beach Club. We visited Adventurers for a bit. We will try that for longer sometime (we never have). We also visited Comedy Warehouse (that is a great show). I did have some fun at the 70s and Mannequinns, but Pleasure Island is definitely not on my must-do list anymore. I would only go there if I had an EXTRA evening in the trip.
I regret not being able to do more at MGM, but I felt that we accomplished a lot today. I was satisfied.
