Hi, I'm a new DVC member and am trying to plan my first trip to my home DVC resort (SSR, sight unseen). Having not been to WDW in about 15 years, I'm at a complete and total loss as to where to begin my planning. I'm trying to decide between May and June, dates are flexible. Here is my list of questions, I'll try to keep them short:

1) Is there a difference crowd-wise between May and June? My 2yo LOVES characters and rides, but her patience only goes so far.

2) How do I know what the availability is for that time? We're aiming for a studio.

3) I suspect the answer to #2 is to call DVC and I know the number is something simple like 1888-888-but I forgot the rest. If someone can post their phone #, I'd appreciate it. I tried logging into the DVC site but don't remember my username/password. I assume they can reset it for me over the phone.

TIA!! :thanks: :disrocks:

I prefer May to June, as the crowds will be less in May. Plus, this isn't a busy time for DVC, and you'll have no problem booking SSR (or most other resorts) in May.

Until kids are in school I always vote for trips while school is in session. We loved May (beginning) before we hit the school years.

:thumbsup2

And in May there is the F&G show at Epcot, and the butterfly pavillion, for instance, would probably interest your little one. There's usually a playground and topiaries that are awesome!

June does tend to get hotter and more humid. I absolutely love April into May.

Weather is a very pleasant 80's with 70's at night. It doesn't rain much and everything is in bloom.

Crowds also tend to be much lighter in May. Like September it is a month where everyone tied to a school schedule is at home. You can miss the middle of the year, but usually the beginning and end of term is too crucial.

I'd call MS now and see about that studio. Studios tend to go faster due to their low point cost. Ask to be in the Springs section (or Grandstand). Springs has the zero entry pool and Grandstand has the water play area. But if you get put in the Paddocks or Congress Park, just ask to be near the pool. Both pools there have playgrounds for the kiddies.

As someone said, EPCOT has it's Flower & Garden festival that time of year (lasts until June 15, I believe). Everything is in bloom around the world. SSR, in particular, looks gorgeous in full bloom.

Here's my favorite crepe myrtle lined path at the Grandstand:

I *love* the DIS! I discovered the boards when I was planning our first Disney cruise and have gradually made my way over to other boards. It's the best way to get a question answered!

As I mentioned, we're flexible with the time so seems like early May is a winner. Can someone please post the MS phone number so I can call to inquire?

The Flower & Garden festival sounds nice and the butterfly pavilion too. I'll make sure to ask for Springs or Grandstand. I think I'll request Springs because she loves swimming and I plan on us spending downtime at the resort.

Thanks again! :yay:

Definitely in May. Lower crowds, lower temperatures and lower points! Stay away from Memorial weekend and week though. Can't wait for the kids to get out of high school sports so we can go back to traveling earlier.

Count one more vote for May. What the previous posters have noted is correct--the crowds will be lower because school will still be in session, and the weather should be nicer.

Our 2yo dd LOVES going to "Mickey's House" and would happily spend all day on Main Street just looking at the castle! :goodvibes

May is our favorite time to go.

The first week of June isn't too bad crowd wise, but once you get into that 2nd week, the crowd difference is really noticeable!

Another vote for May.....the earlier the better....
Before it gets a chance to get too hot.
Happy planning
Kerri

It is against board policy to post that number on this public board. Do you have your blue membership card? It's on the back of that. Otherwise, you could call your guide and he/she will be glad to give it to you.

Or you could Google search for it. :rolleyes1

Check out ***************** and passporter.com for help with planning and phone numbers and check the crowd calendar it is my bible at Disney.

Hey they ***** me out. hmmmmm it is ***********dot com without the spaces. Unsure why that is a problem.

It is also against board policy to post in a manner to circumvent the filters. My suggestion would be to PM one of the moderators if you have questions about the rules and what is permissable.

For some reason I didn't think to check the passporter site, interestingly enough it was MY bible for cruise planning. Thanks for the reminder!

 It's certainly not my intention (and I'm sure no one else's) to post something against policy. In any case, I called when I got home (which is where my card was!) and there's plenty of availability.

Thanks to all for the advice! :goodvibes
