Trip update from a frequent poster

Okay it looks like we are staying at AOA due to the tour groups that are staying at pop in February

Not that it matters now but how do I explain to my mom when you call the front desk from your room you are not talking to the front desk
 
Just tell her that.

There aren't enough staff onsite to take all the calls so they send them to a call center.

If anything urgent is happening it's better to walk to the front desk.
 
When you walk through the lobby point out that there are no phones, no castmembers are on the phone, and you don't hear a phone ringing because any calls to the "front desk" go to a call center.

Yep I agree. Every single time that I call the front desk, I have never gotten a person who is actually, physically at the front desk. (I know this because I ask if I am speaking to someone who is currently working at the front desk. All have told me no, (most have said they are at an Off-site call center or at an outer building in the resort).
 

What might she need from a front desk? We didn't have any phone call questions in the whole time we stayed there.

My mom was just pointing out that if we did stay at pop there would be no need for me to march to the front desk in my pjs in the middle of the night if one of the teens from the tour group knocked on my door

Just don't worry about it now. :) You are at AoA so the only time you should even see any at resort, if you even do, is at the food court. If you need towels or anything, you can still pick up the phone and call - they should come promptly. Honestly we never need to use the phone. The only time we have is to get towels or to listen to a message left that our packages had arrived at gift shop. I'm sure your stay there will be awesome! Wander around, it has some of the very best imagineering!

PS While you usually don't see front desk CMs on phones, they do have them. We've had to have some issues resolved a number of times that took them picking up a phone and calling elsewhere.

And she may be correct. If you have strangers knocking on your door in the middle of the night, a call to the front desk should result in someone from the resort responding. Just because calls are routed to call centers does not mean they die there. I called when I recieved a text to call the front desk. The person who took my call was able to find out why I recieved the text.

Tink- if you have a service issue that needs to be resolved you go to the front desk. If you have people banging on your door, you call and know that the people who handle those calls will make sure the resort staff is informed and that you will be assisted.
 
As to your initial question -- just tell your mom that the front desk CM's are usually busy helping people in-person at the desk, calls are routed to a call center.

However, if your main concern is people banging on your door in the middle of the night -- my main advice is stay in your room and be safe. Doesn't matter which resort or who answers the phone, stay safe in your room and use the phone. Do not go outside your room to confront the strangers or (presumably) walk past/through them to the front desk for a complaint. Use the phone and explain people are banging on your door and won't go away. It's unlikely to occur, but if it does, please rest assured that the call center will get help to you and you are safer to stay in your room in this scenario.

Why did that conversation happen, though? That sort of thing happens so infrequently it would literally never be on my radar. And I certainly wouldn't worry family members with it.

You got your question answered because they could look you up and find the note on your account.

With a security issue they have to comprehend, decide to follow up, actually follow up, hope that the person they contact comprehends, and then isn't busy with things more important than a quinceneara girl or youth group soccer player knocking on a door.

So for fun I was looking at akl and club level came up for 3,000 dollars

Pros only booking one room because it is a two bedroom so everyone well have there space

Cons
Price but might be worth it to get a good night sleep

i don't think that it is fair to call the people who answer the phone "clueless". And, their motivation for stopping the behaviour is good customer service - the same motivation as someone who answered your call but was sitting at the front desk.

Sorry I meant no disrespect but how can someone in China know what's going on where I am staying I get that I tell them but it's hard witness something when you are not even in the same country

Disney's call centers are US-based, not in China.

When you call with a security problem, they take a report of the situation and contact Disney Security. Which is exactly what the person at the front desk would do.
 
They call the resort security to come check it out.

So basically all I have to do is call the front desk and they well take care of me, my safety is my number one concern

ETA I can listen to movies all night long though my ear buds it's the knocking on the door that well send me over the edge but now that I know I am safer then I realized I can relax for the time being

You finding more things to worry about that don't need to be worried about. You gotta quit. It's going to ruin your trip. Honestly. You are going to drive yourself crazy doing this. You are safe at Disney. What do you think is going to happen to you?
