Trip update from a frequent poster

You finding more things to worry about that don't need to be worried about. You gotta quit. It's going to ruin your trip. Honestly. You are going to drive yourself crazy doing this. You are safe at Disney. What do you think is going to happen to you?

Honestly I could not tell you out side my own home Disney was my bubble the one place that I knew as a very sheltered teen I was safe separating from mommy as long as I had my cell phone I was navigating resorts buses and parks in my sleep and I was so excited to return to pop my first choice always when my family announces we are staying on site just to find out that there is a group staying knocking randomly on doors and windows I can't explain why that would explain why that would scare me more then annoy me

I agree with @AngiTN you are driving yourself crazy needlessly. One-you don't need to be scared and two -you are NOT EVEN STAYING AT POP. You are staying at AoA
You need to hopefully relax or maybe delay this trip until you get more comfortable.

Well it's not until February and I well try to come across more as excited then anxious because honestly I can't wait to spend extended time with my parents I just want to make sure every detail is in place and everyone leaves in one place now I did hear the poster loud and clear that every adult is responsible for them selfs but why can't we look out for each other

AoA doesn't have tour groups usually so you should be fine. Also check moderates like POR or POFQ instead of AKL if you don't want to be at a value. Cheaper and very few tour groups book them. I agree with the previous posters that calling the Disney call center or front desk is basically the same in terms of the response to someone knocking on your door randomly in the middle of the night. They will call security! You might even have an extension on the phone to call security directly if you need to. I will be at WDW next week, I can check for you if there is one.

In the past I called 'front desk' (rather the call center) to have bed rails or towels and they were always prompt to pass my message to housekeeping. I don't see why they wouldn't be for a security issue. Quite the opposite imo.

Take a break from the DIS. People post a lot of negative stories here and if you pay attention to every single one it will ruin your planning.

Or, on the other hand, it can make your trip great because you expected the worst!

No one is going to knock on your door no matter where you stay. You're worrying about something that odds are isn't going to happen. That would be akin to worrying about a meteor falling on the building. You can't prepare for every thing. You have to realize somethings are out of your control. Especially things with such small chances of occurring. What is the saying, don't sweat the small stuff. That can be your new mantra for this trip

Totally agree with you! On community board yesterday Tink said she was taking a break from boards...but continues to post even a new thread today worrying about doctors.

Tink you need to relax and not worry. If someone would knock on the door don't answer and call front desk. Nobody is going to do that! Relax and know you have a wonderful trip coming up. It doesn't do any good to worry- you can't change anything and it'll only make you sick! Quit reading about the things and take your break. Download a Disney travel book on your new Kindle and read that.

Tink- you are making assumptions that are not accurate. If you call the front desk and have concerns about your safety there will be a response. The cm who answers the call has a protocol to follow in this situation.

You cannot control every detail and if you try you will set yourself up fir disappointment.

You are right I can't control everything sometimes I need to let go and Let God it is so hard to do but I am sure it well be better for DH if I did that

I get the whole anxiety thing about not being able to control what actually will happen on your trip. There are tons of variables that you have no control over. But you can't see every negative DIS post as something that's going to go wrong on your specific trip. You're going to ruin your trip with that kind of thinking. Has it happened before that rude teens have knocked on random doors in the middle of the night? Sure! It does happen, but very, very rarely. And when it does you call the "front desk" on your phone who will call security and you can go back to sleep. You can't control other people or their actions, but you can control your response to it. There's very little chance you'd be in actual danger in life, much less at Disney World, and if you actually experience it you'll know what to do.
