:cool1: My wife and I will be going to WDW in late May all by our selves! :love2: . I was wondering what people do besides the parks, both in and out of WDW. While we enjoy the parks, we were there in November and have seen everything many times, thanks to DVC! I'm sure we will be attending ALL the fireworks ;) What are the places you enjoy? This can be attractions, tours, places to eat, walking, etc. The stuff that "normal tourists" don't see or do becuase they are attacking the parks commando style.

Hi,

Congrats on your solo trip! You will have a blast. DH and I love to explore the hotels. You can also spend time at the Boardwalk too. And dont forget to get an ice cream sundae at Giradellis (sp?) at the Marketplace (my Dh's not to miss place!)

Enjoy!

We really enjoy our "just the two of us" time at WDW! We have a couple of favorite restaurants we usually do (Artist Point, Teppanyaki dining rooms, Akershus, etc.) and we like to do a behind the scenes tour each trip. Some are as short as a couple of hours and some are a whole day. Our favorite to do over every few years is the one that goes behind the scenes at Epcot, MK and MGM and takes about 8 hours. We did a wonderful one at AK that took about 4 hours too.

Will you have a 1 bedroom with the jacuzzi?

Need I say more....... ;)

We absolutely will! But we don't want to spend the entire time in the room!
:jumping1:

A bottle of wine, the beach at the Polynesian & the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom....

We love JellyRolls (at the Boardwalk) and we also think the Feista Margarita's in Mexico are devine... esp while watching IllmiNations :-)

We havent done any of the behind the scence tours yet, but I think I DH would love to see the Utilador thing. LOL

The best part of going without the kids... doing what you want, when you want, for as long as you want.... ANd going potty by yourself.

We are going by ourselves next week (we have 2 toddler boys). We are going to do the Segway tour at Epcot which DVC members get a discount!

DH and I did the Keys to the Kingdom tour at MK in Feb., while the girls were with my parents. It was about 4-5 hours long and included lunch. It was one of the highlights of the trip. Schedule it before opening time, like the 8:30 tour. DH and I got there around 8:00 and were allowed to check in and then roam Main Street while it was virtually deserted. It was great to just walk around before the tour and take it all in without the stampede behind you chasing you down the street. Enjoy your trip!

Potty by myself - Disney does make dreams come true!

I can't wait for our August trip, first trip without the three princesses. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

The Segway tour is great. We also liked the Keys to the Kingdom tour at MK. I also did Dolphins in depth at the living seas in Epcot. It was a wonderful experience. We also like to dine at the Artists Point at WL and Narcossee's at the Grand Floridian. At Narcossee's you can watch the fireworks at the MK.

DDave - what dates are you going and where are you staying?

DH and I are going alone without children over the Memorial Day Weekend and staying at SSR. It's our first trip home since buying DVC last Aug. We will be going with our 3 children in Aug., but I convinced DH we should be able to make a weekend trip home alone without the children first, just to check things out and to be able to enjoy our home resort.

We're in CT too and flying from BDL.

My husband and I have been going without kids for a few years now. Our favorite things are cocktails at Adventurers Club, dining at Caifornia Grill, fireworks at night from the dock at the Grand Floridian, shopping at the premium outlets (I love great handbags), watching Andy-mation create balloon creations in MGM and eating in Epcot center. Also add in taking our time to just appreciate the beauty of the parks including the flowers and the animals in Animal Kingdom. We often watch the gorillas at AK for hours and ride the safari sometimes 3 times a day. Whatever makes you happy. Our daughter calls us when we are here and asks us for a ride count each day to see if we actually have riden anything. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. There are times that it takes us days to ride 5 things. But we always have a great time. We often love to go to the water parks in the afternoon when the parks get crowded. We usually go from around 3-5 in the afternoon and just float around in the lazy river. Good luck with your trip and let us know what you finally did and what you thoroughly enjoyed.

Just rub it in........

I am green with envy!!!

My husband and I before kids did the horseback riding and loved it and also played mini golf. we felt like we were really on a date both times. We are hoping to get a dinner by ourselves in January because my youngest will be four and old enough then to go to the neverland club. I hear that the california grill is great and a nice place to watch the fireworks. Have a great trip and enjoy.

Keys to the Kingdom tour is great. Dinner at the Contemporary California Grill while watching the MK fireworks.

My DH and I would love to do this, but won't spend the points on the weekends just for us! Have a great time, I'm sure it will be magical no matter what you end up doing.

Just for you?? If you don't deserve a nice trip to WDW without the children to recharge from time to time, who would? :)

We are going 5/22 - 5/27. Southington, CT out of BDL.

Going without the kiddies is really great. Although I have to admit we did have a couple of melancholy(did I spell it ok?) moments like during the Hoop Dee Doo.
But we are doing again in....count' em...3 weeks. We are bringing the kids back in August though. They are kind of aggrevated that we are doing this May trip though.
Anyway the sans kids trips are going to be a big thing in the future. Look at all of us here that are in the same situation. Took the kids when they where little and because we are big kids we still want to go ourselves.
I had another thread just this week saying how people besides those here don't understand Disney World.
For us without kids there is such a great time to be had while shedding the pressure (not that it's bad...I love WDW with kids).
Quiet dinners by candlelight, Walking at night along the walkways of all the resorts with all their different atmospheres.
WDW is really such a romantic place besides being a huge family orientated destination.
I could go on and on but I'll let someone else take it from here.
