I wanted to let other moms and dads know what happened on our trip. We arrived at Universal 4/22 for 1 night stay at RPR. Our room was ready at 10am which was great. We dump our stuff and headed for Universal Studios. We spent a great day in the parks. My favorite ride was Mummy. I also thought Simpson's was awesome. We had lunch at the Irish Pub. Food was good. We headed out of the park at 5:30pm and went back to the room. DS never complained all day.
We had a 7:30 reservation at Tschop Chop. As we settled in and we were looking over the menu DS said he wasn't hungry and DH felt his head. He was burning up. I informed the wait staff that my son wasn't feeling well and zipped out to find some cough syrup. They had a small assortment of medicine in the souvenir store off the lobby. I ran back to restaurant just in time for the appetizer. We ate quickly and I took DS back to the room while DH settled the bill.
I gave DS some Tylenol and cough syrup and put him to bed. I took his temp at 2am and it was 102,
more Tylenol.
In the morning his temp was still high so I called the desk and asked about options for medical care in the area. The front desk was great and she listed about 7 options from walk in care to pharmacies with nurse practitioners and a couple of name of Physician that would come right to the room. I went with the Physician coming right to the room. Resort Physician was who I called. He answered the phone and was at the room in 2 hours. In the meantime DH and DD went to IOA. We were supposed to check out by 11am but the front desk pushed it back to 2pm which was wonderful.
The MD did a history and checked DS over. He had an oxygen sensor on DS finger and did a strep test which came out positive. He called in a prescription to Pharmacy down the street. I thought he did a thorough exam.
I picked the MD coming to the room for the convenience. I had read in a guidebook that this was an option in the Orlando area. Yes it was expensive, $175, but I figured it would be at least $100 for a walk in. No he doesn't bill your insurance. He gave me the forms so I can send them in.
We left Universal at about 3pm and headed for the Orange Lake Resort. It took DS a couple as days to start feeling better. DH came down with it on Thurs night.
On a side note we returned to IOA on 5/2 so that DS and I could go to the parks. I had used a Superbowl ticket on 4/22 that expired. They are only good for 6 days after 1st use. I stopped at guest services and explained what happened with DS the previous week. They were so great, she reactivated my ticket and gave us express passed and gave DH and DD at 30% discount on single day tickets. They had used their previously purchased tickets from ticket master on 4/23. We had a great day! Hulk is still my favorite coaster!!
